Brand
Rolex time-tellers have, over time, carved their own niche in the watchmaking industry. Making a number of technological advancements, this brand takes the business of designing watches seriously. Without doubt, Rolex is considered to be one of the best brands in the watch industry today. Since its inception in the 1940s, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust has been one of the finest and most recognizable watches of all time.

Design
The Rolex flaunts a 36 mm, round case made of polished stainless steel and a blue dial. It is fitted with an elegant sapphire crystal glass which is scratch-resistant and ensures clear visibility. The dial sports stick style hands and Roman markers that lend enhanced visibility in the dark owing to their luminescent coating. It is fitted with a bracelet made in steel with flat three-piece links that end in a folding Oysterclasp supported with a 5 mm easylink extension link. The winding crown is screwed down with a twinlock double waterproof system. The bezel is dome shaped in 904L Rolex steel that is manufactured in-house.

Features
The Rolex houses a perpetual, mechanical, self-winding automatic movement in 3135 calibre. It is complimented with an officially certified Swiss chronometer and a paramagnetic blue parachrom hairspring oscillator. Being water resistant to a depth of 100 meters, the watch can also be worn when taking a refreshing swim or indulging in water sports. It has a monobloc middle case, a screw-down caseback and a winding crown that is bidirectional. The timepiece features an automatic date function at the 3 o’clock position which is also fitted with a cyclops lens.

History
The Datejust collection was introduced by Rolex in the year 1945. This was the first wristwatch to display automatically changing date through an opening on the dial.

Features
Featuring a classic design and iconic style, the Datejust features a date window located at the 3 o’clock position for your ease in viewing. The date aperture showcases the Cyclops lens on the top, the most distinctive feature of Rolex watches. This lens magnifies the date by approximately two and half times for clear legibility. The watches in this collection have an oyster case, which is clamped shut and extremely robust. The core of the oyster consists of a screw-down case and a signed screw-down crown with twinlock system. This system renders the watches water-resistant up to 100 metres, enabling you to wear them for poolside swimming and snorkelling. The Datejust watches come with two classic Rolex bracelets, either the Jubilee or the Oyster. The Jubilee is a five-piece metal link bracelet with a concealed Crownclasp fitted at the end, and the Oyster is a broad three-piece metal link bracelet, which is quite popular because of its classic appeal. These watches have a standard 36 mm case, and are equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Rolex, the calibre 3135.

Associations
A Datejust was presented to an eminent gentleman by Hans Wilsdorf in 1947, on the 100,000th officially certified chronometer celebrated by the brand. The identity of this gentleman has not been revealed till this day. Christian Bale was seen wearing the Rolex Datejust 16013, in the movie American Pyscho. A Datejust has also been worn by Paul Newman in the movie The Color of Money, Bill Murray in the film Lost in Translation, and by various male characters in The Informers.
