Rolex is a brand that has phenomenally changed the watch industry. With a number of technological advancements since its inception, Rolex has always designed watches that lack neither style nor substance. Every Rolex is designed to perfection making the brand a world class leader in watches. Rolex Rhodium Rom belongs to the Rolex Perpetual Datejust family which has been one of the world’s most recognizable models since its inception in the 1940s.
Rolex Datejust M116200-63600 sports a round rhodium dial fitted with a sapphire crystal glass. It is complimented with indexes and Roman numerals that are luminescent, ensuring better visibility. The case is 36 mm in size and the case material is steel with a dome shaped bezel that gives the Rolex a rich aura. The sapphire crystal case window boasts of being scratch-resistant and lends a distinctive sheen to the watch. It has a bracelet of steel with a concealed folding crown clasp.
The timepiece is water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters and has a screw down winding crown with twin lock that enhances the water-resistance of the Rolex watch. It is equipped with a perpetual, mechanical, self-winding automatic movement. Thus the watch does not require regular winding. It also has an automatic date function located at the 3 o’clock position. For the date function, a visually enhanced cyclops lens is incorporated that lends greater focus and better visibility. It also houses a 3135 calibre movement.
A number of sportspersons from varying field of sports have endorsed watches of the Rolex brand. These include Roger Federer, Ana Ianovic and Sailor Paul Cayard.
The Datejust collection was introduced by Rolex in the year 1945. This was the first wristwatch to display automatically changing date through an opening on the dial.
Featuring a classic design and iconic style, the Datejust features a date window located at the 3 o’clock position for your ease in viewing. The date aperture showcases the Cyclops lens on the top, the most distinctive feature of Rolex watches. This lens magnifies the date by approximately two and half times for clear legibility. The watches in this collection have an oyster case, which is clamped shut and extremely robust. The core of the oyster consists of a screw-down case and a signed screw-down crown with twinlock system. This system renders the watches water-resistant up to 100 metres, enabling you to wear them for poolside swimming and snorkelling. The Datejust watches come with two classic Rolex bracelets, either the Jubilee or the Oyster. The Jubilee is a five-piece metal link bracelet with a concealed Crownclasp fitted at the end, and the Oyster is a broad three-piece metal link bracelet, which is quite popular because of its classic appeal. These watches have a standard 36 mm case, and are equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Rolex, the calibre 3135.
A Datejust was presented to an eminent gentleman by Hans Wilsdorf in 1947, on the 100,000th officially certified chronometer celebrated by the brand. The identity of this gentleman has not been revealed till this day. Christian Bale was seen wearing the Rolex Datejust 16013, in the movie American Pyscho. A Datejust has also been worn by Paul Newman in the movie The Color of Money, Bill Murray in the film Lost in Translation, and by various male characters in The Informers.
