Rolex has always managed to blend the best of classic and contemporary in their innovative designs. They know how to intertwine form and function to build a beautiful timepiece that can be passed on from one generation to the next as a priceless legacy. The Rolex M116333-72213_ CHM IND belongs to the Date Just II range. The Date Just range was first launched in 1945, and rolled out the first watch ever to display the date automatically and accurately.
The Rolex Date Just II, which came out a few years ago, deviates from the traditional look of the Date Just range slightly. The case size is a luxurious 41mm in diameter as opposed to the more traditional 36mm. The round dial is in a radiant champagne colour that complements the steel and gold materials that the linked band and case are made of. The painstakingly crafted band and case, made of 18 ct gold and 904L super alloy steel render the watch highly durable providing longevity and protection against the harsh weather elements. To maintain the lustre of the material, only proper polishing is recommended over the years.
The instrument is a self-winding chronometer that is made with superlative craftsmanship. The automatic movement harnesses energy from the wearer’s hand motion and winds the mainspring without any manual interference required.
The 2-year warranty period is reassuring even though this high quality watch is equipped to resist damage and last for decades. The sapphire crystal material of the dial cover has a Cyclops lens affixed on top of the date display that magnifies the date two and a half times. The crystal is scratchproof, shatterproof and has anti-reflective properties as well.
The watch is water resistant to a depth of 100 meters. The winding crown is screwed on top of a tube that hermetically seals the watchcase making it almost impossible for water to enter the watch and cause any damage.
Released in 2009, the Datejust II Collection by Rolex is a worthy successor of the Datejust Collection. This range retains all the classic features of the Datejust watches with the added bonuses of an enhanced case size and a better-performing calibre.
Featuring a 41 mm steel case with polished bezel, the watches exude majestic elegance. For your ease of viewing, these watches have a date window at the 3o’clock position with the patented Cyclops lens over it. This lens enables you to view the date two and half times larger and is made of the same scratch-resistant and shatterproof sapphire as the crystal. The date automatically changes at midnight in a few thousandths of a second. The central part of this watch has an Oyster case, which can be clamped shut and has a screw-down winding crown and a screw-down back. The signed screw-down winding crown features twin-lock system and has two sealed zones, which make it water resistant up to 100 meters. These sealed zones are inside the crown and the tube of the crown, and thus ensure that the watches do not get damaged due to snorkelling or pool side swimming. Adding to the aesthetics of the Datejust II is the Oyster bracelet. This bracelet is comfortable and robust, and has a flat metal three-piece links at the end, which is universally used in the Oyster collection watches. The watches of this collection come with caliber 3136 perpetual movement. This is a self-winding mechanical movement made by Rolex and is a certified Swiss chronometer, a sign of high precision.
Several celebrities have been seen wearing a Rolex Datejust II including Oscar winning actress Halle Berry.
