Founded in London in the year 1905, the luxury watch house of Rolex was later shifted to Geneva, Switzerland in 1919. The watch making company was established through the joint initiative of Hans Wildorf and Alfred Davis. In just a little more than 100 years, the name of Rolex has become synonymous with luxury.

The Datejust Lady 31 M178273-63163_GRN OLV ROMVI11R, from the Oyster Perpetual collection is an exquisite piece from Rolex. This timepiece has a round dial with its clock mechanism enclosed within a monobloc case, with a screw down back cover. The dial itself features a unique Olive Green colour. Its hour indexes are all represented by gold Roman numerals. A special feature about this watch is that the 6 o’clock marker is showcased with a Roman numeral VI and is set entirely in sparkling diamonds, outlined in rich gold.

This timepiece has a case made of Yellow Rolesor, the same material that is used for the fluted bezel mounted atop the case. This adds to its beauty of the timepiece. A Jubilee bracelet with five links enhances the look of the watch. A sapphire crystal endowed with anti-scratch and anti-reflective properties go a long way towards increasing the durability of the watch.

This Lady Datejust 31 has many features that are characteristic of the traditional Rolex watches. The date feature, that gives the watch its name, is located at the 3 o’clock index and is perpetual in nature. This function has a rapid change feature which automatically changes the date sharp at midnight each day. A Cyclops lens over the date feature makes reading the date easier by magnifying it by two and half times its actual size. Moreover, this chronograph is Swiss certified and hence has been tested to offer high accuracy. It has a mechanical and self-winding movement that works with great efficiency. A patented twin lock waterproof system characteristic of the Oyster perpetual range ensures that the timepiece remains waterproof up to 100 metres.

The Datejust collection was introduced by Rolex in the year 1945. This was the first wristwatch to display automatically changing date through an opening on the dial.

Featuring a classic design and iconic style, the Datejust features a date window located at the 3 o’clock position for your ease in viewing. The date aperture showcases the Cyclops lens on the top, the most distinctive feature of Rolex watches. This lens magnifies the date by approximately two and half times for clear legibility. The watches in this collection have an oyster case, which is clamped shut and extremely robust. The core of the oyster consists of a screw-down case and a signed screw-down crown with twinlock system. This system renders the watches water-resistant up to 100 metres, enabling you to wear them for poolside swimming and snorkelling. The Datejust watches come with two classic Rolex bracelets, either the Jubilee or the Oyster. The Jubilee is a five-piece metal link bracelet with a concealed Crownclasp fitted at the end, and the Oyster is a broad three-piece metal link bracelet, which is quite popular because of its classic appeal. These watches have a standard 36 mm case, and are equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Rolex, the calibre 3135.

A Datejust was presented to an eminent gentleman by Hans Wilsdorf in 1947, on the 100,000th officially certified chronometer celebrated by the brand. The identity of this gentleman has not been revealed till this day. Christian Bale was seen wearing the Rolex Datejust 16013, in the movie American Pyscho. A Datejust has also been worn by Paul Newman in the movie The Color of Money, Bill Murray in the film Lost in Translation, and by various male characters in The Informers.
