History
Hans Wilsdorf founded the brand Rolex at London in 1905, when he was only 24 years old. He based the brand upon his belief that wristwatches would soon become indispensable and highly accurate.

Design
The M178240-63160_ DARK RHOD FLO Datejust Lady 31 is a model that is very different from the traditional Datejust models that Rolex makes. It has a 904 L steel case that has a smooth finish. The bezel mounted on top of the case is domed and is made of the same material as the case. A highly attractive feature about the dial of this watch is that it showcases a dark rhodium raised floral motif, a definite eye catcher. You can see only the sixth hour index present on the dial, represented through an Arabic numeral. In place of the twelfth hour index, the Rolex crown is present while in place of the third hour index, the date window can be seen.

A bracelet made of 904 L steel featuring a three pieces linking construction forms an essential part of the watch design. It has an oyster clasp for safety. The dial of the watch is protected by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. There is a Cyclops lens atop the date so that it can be viewed easily as the lens magnifies the digits by 2.5 times their actual size.

Features
The Datejust Lady 31 is a certified the Swiss chronograph. This watch ensures precise timing telling as it is tested under several extreme conditions and also in different places and times. A stop second feature is present, which allows you to set the time accurately to the minutest second. Using a 2235 caliber self-winding mechanism, this watch is very efficient. It is water resistant to a depth of 100 metres. This is made possible by screwing the casing and the crown together so that they clamps shut like an oyster shell and do not allow any water to get in.

History
The Datejust collection was introduced by Rolex in the year 1945. This was the first wristwatch to display automatically changing date through an opening on the dial.

Features
Featuring a classic design and iconic style, the Datejust features a date window located at the 3 o’clock position for your ease in viewing. The date aperture showcases the Cyclops lens on the top, the most distinctive feature of Rolex watches. This lens magnifies the date by approximately two and half times for clear legibility. The watches in this collection have an oyster case, which is clamped shut and extremely robust. The core of the oyster consists of a screw-down case and a signed screw-down crown with twinlock system. This system renders the watches water-resistant up to 100 metres, enabling you to wear them for poolside swimming and snorkelling. The Datejust watches come with two classic Rolex bracelets, either the Jubilee or the Oyster. The Jubilee is a five-piece metal link bracelet with a concealed Crownclasp fitted at the end, and the Oyster is a broad three-piece metal link bracelet, which is quite popular because of its classic appeal. These watches have a standard 36 mm case, and are equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Rolex, the calibre 3135.

Associations
A Datejust was presented to an eminent gentleman by Hans Wilsdorf in 1947, on the 100,000th officially certified chronometer celebrated by the brand. The identity of this gentleman has not been revealed till this day. Christian Bale was seen wearing the Rolex Datejust 16013, in the movie American Pyscho. A Datejust has also been worn by Paul Newman in the movie The Color of Money, Bill Murray in the film Lost in Translation, and by various male characters in The Informers.
