About the Raymond Weil Toccata Collection
Essence
The Raymond Weil Toccata collection is inspired by the musical acumen carried by a composer. Be it the straight lines or baton-shaped hands, the inspiration is coveted by the brand and enthusiasts alike. The collection also holds a series of timepieces that are inspired by the rectangular watches from the 1920s during the art-deco movement. Initially started in 1996, the line was discontinued, till it was re-launched in 2014 to provide the audience with a piece truly worth owning.
Design
There are two types of design incorporated in the Raymond Weil Toccata collection, one with a round case and the other with a rectangular. Toccata means ‘to touch’ and it is usually referred to fast musical pieces played using a keyboard or a string instrument. Toccata is primarily used to show off the conductor’s acumen or the ‘touch’. Raymond Weil shows off its design ‘touch’ with the Toccata collection. Be it the art-deco-inspired rectangular cases or the clean minimalistic round ones, the collection foretells the story of the brand’s decade-long heritage.
For Men
The Raymond Weil Toccata collection is an embodiment of aesthetic acumen. With an uncluttered dial, the collection features a date window at the 3 o’clock marker. Whereas, the sleek baton-shaped hands denote the conductor’s baton. This inspiration from the world of Opera tells the story of the brand’s close association with the music world. Available in either a rectangular-shaped dial or a round one, the collection features both Roman numerals and index markers.
For Women
Adding a sense of femininity to the collection, there are timepieces that specially cater to the needs of a woman. Be it a mother-of-pearl dial or diamond markers, the collection took care of the feminine spectrum. The rectangular variant is offered with a date window at the 3 o’clock marker and Roman numerals. These art-deco-inspired watches are also available with mother-of-pearl dials and diamond markers. In a bid to further beautify the collection, there are also timepieces that are fitted with diamond-studded bezels or can be found with bright hues such as ruby and green. There are also iterations with circular dials that are equipped with lacquered and mother-of-pearl dials studded with diamond markers.

Pros:
The dial is simple yet very classy looking.
At 38.5mm, the case is somewhat small compared to the current trend in men's watches (i.e. the size of a Big Ben alarm clock with a strap). Still, it's understated and very classy.
Sapphire crystal (to be expected at this price) for superior scratch resistance.
Extremely well manufactured case and bracelet.
Double deployant clasp.
Quartz movement for accurate time keeping, and unlike mechanical they rarely malfunction, require no maintenance and are cheap to replace if needed.
Can be worn with anything, from formal down to casual.
Prestigious Swiss watchmaking company (Check out their website).
Cons:
There is no sweeping seconds hand, so you will not get accuracy to the second.
Quartz movement means you will have to have the battery changed, and lacks the charm a mechanical or automatic mechanical movement has. -
