In 1917, a small clockworks factory was established at Lengnau, in Switzerland. The factory called the Schlup and Company soon turned into watch-manufacturers. In 1957, they launched their first line of watches under the brand name ‘Rado’. Subsequently, the company also renamed itself. In 1958, recognizing their potential, the ASUAG acquired Rado. ASUAG became a part of the SMH Group a few years later. Since 1998, this group has called itself the Swatch Group.
The founders’ firm belief in the progress of technology has been the touchstone of Rado’s progress. They changed the face of watch-making by introducing the use of materials like hardmetal, ceramics, lanthanum and sapphire crystal. The Rado DiaStar, launched in 1962, was the world’s first range of scratch-proof watches. The line continues to be a hugely popular choice, among the buyers even today. In 2004, the Guinness Book of World Records awarded the company with the distinction of having manufactured the hardest watch on earth, the V10K.
A suave piece from the house of Rado, this model R32184152 belonging to the Hyperchrome L series for men, is a blend of Rado’s innovation and powerful technology. A ceramos rose-gold tone stainless steel bezel encloses the matte black dial in a superb combination. Contrasting rose-gold tone stick hour indices and watch hands are set on the dial, protected by the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
The light-weight, flexible bracelet is composed of stainless steel with rose-gold PVD coated inserts. Durable and stylish, this watch is the ideal gift for the sophisticated modern man,
Replete with features, this Hyperchrome watch uses the quartz technology to remain updated on time and date. Hour, minute and second hands enable the user to know the precise time. A neat date aperture is placed beside the 3 o’ clock position. A 50 metres water resistance enhances the technological prowess of this watch.
In 1917, in Switzerland, three brothers—Fritz, Ernst and Werner Schlup—opened a clockwork factory called Schlup & Co. From its humble beginnings, it is this same company that we today known as Rado. In 1957, exactly 40 years since its inception, the company changed its name to Rado Uhren AG and presented its first watch collection.
The monobloc case of the ceramic watches in this new Rado family represents a breakthrough in technology as well as a step forward in design. Lightweight, extremely comfortable and eye-catching, the Rado HyperChrome is the ultimate every day all occasion timepiece.
Key milestones in Rado’s impressive history so far include the world’s first scratch resistant watch, pioneering high-tech ceramic in watchmaking, the monobloc injected ceramic case and the introduction of touch technology in a ceramic watch. The brand was also the first to use plasma high-tech ceramic in the world.
