In 1917, three brothers, Ernst, Fritz and Werner Schlup opened a clockwork factory. Like all success stories, Rado too had a humble beginning. 40 years from its inception, the company emerged as a watch maker and introduced its first watch collection in 1957. Their first breakthrough was in manufacturing a scratch resistant piece, in 1962. The Diastar incorporated hard metal, which is resistant to gold, silver and even platinum. Another breakthrough was the use of sapphire crystals, which are hard and transparent, creating the cover of the delicately designed timepieces, and lending to their strength.
Deisgned for men, the Hyperchrome R32115153 comprises of a ceramos case and a stainless steel bracelet. The silver case encloses the black dial and measures 40mm in diameter.
The black dial features super luminova toned index markers, and hands, which en sure easy visibility of time in dark conditions. A date display is placed immaculately at the 3 o’clock position, adding to its minimalist and uncluttered appearance. This silver-black toned piece reflects boldness, and venerates the spirit of the man wearing it.
A transparent case back gives us an insight into the delicate working of the automatic movement of the timepiece. Durability is assured as the piece is enclosed within a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, and is water resistant up to 50 meters, which ensures that it does not get damaged by accidental spills and splashes or light showers of rain.
Rado has received a number of international awards for their unique and groundbreaking innovations in design. Notable amongst these awards include the RED DOT Award, as well as the iF Design Award, each honouring the brand for their spirit of innovation.
In 1917, in Switzerland, three brothers—Fritz, Ernst and Werner Schlup—opened a clockwork factory called Schlup & Co. From its humble beginnings, it is this same company that we today known as Rado. In 1957, exactly 40 years since its inception, the company changed its name to Rado Uhren AG and presented its first watch collection.
The monobloc case of the ceramic watches in this new Rado family represents a breakthrough in technology as well as a step forward in design. Lightweight, extremely comfortable and eye-catching, the Rado HyperChrome is the ultimate every day all occasion timepiece.
Key milestones in Rado’s impressive history so far include the world’s first scratch resistant watch, pioneering high-tech ceramic in watchmaking, the monobloc injected ceramic case and the introduction of touch technology in a ceramic watch. The brand was also the first to use plasma high-tech ceramic in the world.
