Tag Heuer recently completed 50 years as a renowned watch brand. The brand is known for its innovative technology and imaginative designs.
The silver-tone dial is housed in a sleek two-tone, stainless steel case with 18K yellow gold plating. 18 karat gold is used for the fixed bezel, along with the crown, and the watch hands are in gold-tone. The display is protected by a high quality scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. This crystal is sourced from polished solid sapphire, forged from fused and crystallized alumina. It is therefore so hard that it can only be scratched by a diamond. Anti-reflective coating prevents it from reflecting light, thus making reading time easy. The watch features the iconic S-shaped bracelet that is famous across the TAG Heuer Link series. While the case is made of polished steel, the watch bracelet is a combination of polished steel and plated 18 karat gold. This aesthetic continues on the clasp, which also uses steel and 18 carat gold, with safety push buttons to easily fasten and remove the watch. The dial features a silvered guilloche engraved pattern dial and Roman numerals in black. 18 carat gold is also used on the hour and minute hands which are faceted and polished.
The movement featured here uses quartz vibrating at 32,768 beats per second, enabling precision with minor variations (only a few seconds per month), and is sourced from Switzerland. It is among the finest in the world, well known for its accuracy. The movement can endure shock and magnetic disturbances. Its batteries have a 2 year service life, and the watch’s end of battery life indicator (EOL) begins to show four-second jumps every 4 seconds, despite showing the precise time.
One of their most iconic watch collections, the TAG Heuer’s Link was revamped in 2011. It was originally introduced in the 1980s and has been a big part of the brand’s ethos since then. The core of the Link collection is connected to its bracelet that offers a unique feel and look.
The bracelet tends to be the standout factor for this collection with Tag Heuer having restructured the aesthetic substantially. The links in the bracelet tend to be flatter and angular with the space between the parts reduced compared to the older models. The bracelet was designed to have no exposed pins on either side illustrating some very ingenious engineering. The bezels stand out being polished, containing Roman or Arabic numerals. Instead of being round, the bezel ring tilts down giving it an interesting cushion shape.
The standard quartz watch is 40mm wide with a three-hand movement and is known as the Link Watch with Quartz Movement. The Calibre 6 model is 40 mm wide and also showcases a subsidiary seconds hand. The 42 mm wide Calibre 5 automatic features day-date functions.
