The Luminor GMT cases were the reinvented versions for Officine Panerai models, which were created during the Second World War. From the discovery of luminescent Radiomir, to the unveiling of Luminor collection, Panerai focuses on excellent sealed water proof designs with an enhanced night view for the time keeping elements of the dial.

The Panerai PAM00297 Luminor GMT Automatic Acciaio is distinguished by its masculine looks, and has a GMT second time zone dial section, for a précised time keeping at the same time. Completely fashioned out of stainless steel, it features a steel bezel brushed with silver, and beautifully embodies a black dial. The dial possesses luminous Arabic numerals and indexes as the hour markers, with the 24h indication on its outer-rim. Silver toned, thick squelette sword hands with a plume arrowhead seconds’ arm, complement the dial with increased night view readability. The Panerai patented drawbridge over the silver crown protects the crown from the central pressure; hence the user has to pull out the drawbridge before operating the crown.
For an extra wrist comfort, and proper bezel balance, this timepiece comes with silver Herringbone bracelet, giving this accessory a distinctive look, which is apt for all dresses and occasions.

Driven by a COSC certified Panerai OP VIII calibre, the Panerai PAM00297 Luminor GMT Automatic Acciaio is powered with automatic mechanical movement offering a power reserve of 42 hours. The Cotes de Geneve decoration on the bridge, with a sealed case back, renders the watch with a remarkable finish. Being water resistant up to a depth of 300 metres, this watch is ideal for swimming and snorkelling. A domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating, protects the dial from damage. This timepiece features a small seconds’ counter at the 9 o’ clock dial position, and a date window with a magnifying lens on the 3 o’ clock dial position.

Night-time and underwater visibility of watch-dials were two challenges faced by the watches made in the 1940’s era. Officine Panerai took up the cause of crafting a watch  with these unsuitable problems taken care ofand in 1949, came out with a groundbreaking solution. The Florentine watch-maker and founder of the world renowned Officine Panerai brand was successful in identifying a luminescent substance which changed the course of watch-making for generations to come. Named after this invaluable substance, the Luminor collection set a new benchmark for visibility in hostile conditions.

All Luminor models come adorned with a brilliant solution to further enhance the robustness and reliability of an achiever’s watch, the lever device protecting the crown.  This helps in making the crown more water-tight as well as shielding it more effectively. In 1956 Officine Panerai patented the distinctive crown protection bridge that these time-pieces are renowned for. The strap attachments are crafted from the very same block of steel as the case. The Luminor Base models are crafted from a single block of AISI 316L stainless steel resulting in sleek, comfortable wear. Sapphire crystal obtained from corundum, the second hardest material in the world, is used to prepare the anti-reflective, scratch-proof glass, another significant Luminor characteristic. The Luminor Base 8 Days Acciaio is yet another well established time-piece that emerged equipped with the famous P.5000, an in-house movement with an 8-day power reserve.

On 8th December, history was made by Panerai models which managed to garner more than 1 million euros as proceeds at the ‘Panerai Only’ auction by the renowned Artcurial Auction house for Officine Panerai. Two vintage models, a Luminor and a Marina Militare were auctioned off at a whopping 120,000 euros,  significantly much higher than any initial auction estimates.

There is something alluring about a full bodied metal case. This reincarnation of the original Luminor possesses a stannic like soul with its 44mm brushed steel case and bracelet strap. The bezel of polished steel, glimmers forming the perfect stage for the black dial. The face contains luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers, and in addition to this, 24-hour linear markings at the dial edge, which with the help of a dedicated central hand forming the GMT function. This function enables the wearer to read simultaneously, the local time as well that of another Timezone. Within its steel case, its OP VIII caliber beats as its aesthetic heart. It has a date slot at 3 o'clock, and a small seconds dial at 9 o'clock.

The Luminor GMT is re-engineered version of the first waterproof watch that was created by Panerai for Italian Navy commandos during World War 2. The watch is made of AISI 316L(authenticate stainless steel), a specification of the American Iron and Steel Institute, with a chromium content of 16–18%, 11–14% nickel and 2–3% molybdenum. This fine metal is resistant to extreme environments and is skin friendly too. The case is brushed and polished and it’s bold design with the screwed tight waterproof hallmarked Panerai crown are the key differentiators. The black dial two large watch features large Arabic numeral at 6 and 12 and small 24 hour around the fringe. The central hand that makes a complete rotation in 24 hours guides the time. The watch has excellent night time visibility because of it’s gleaming hands and numbers.
