In the year 1969, as Omega broke its terrestrial bonds and stepped into space, the distinguished brand also launched the Speedmaster Mark II. Cut to 2014, the series has been reorganized and features new designs and better technology.
The Omega Speedmaster “Mark II” 327. has a round, grey dial that features three sub-dials. A small seconds dial is placed at 9 o’clock, the 12-hour recorder is placed at 6 o’clock and the 30-minute recorder at 3 o’clock. The minute and the hour hands are in white and black, while the seconds hand is a bright fluorescent orange. An anti-reflective and scratch-resistant Sapphire crystal zealously guards the dial from external wear and tear. A transparent tachymeter scale, used to measure speed, is engraved upon the Sapphire crystal, and can be easily read even in the dark as a fluorescent orange ring that is filled with Super-Lumoniva illuminates it from below.
Encompassing the mechanics of the timepiece is a 42.4 mm, stainless steel, barrel shaped case. A winding screw is attached to the side of the timepiece flanked by the two push buttons of the stopwatch. The three pieces link, matching steel bracelet that comes with a deployment clasp can be easily adjusted for comfort.
With an Omega caliber of 3330, the chronograph has a self-winding, automatic movement. A special column wheel mechanism makes use of an innovative ratchet wheel for enhanced stopwatch functions. The Co-Axial Escapement also provides military precision in time telling while prolonging the durability of the watch. Its free sprung-balance and Si14 silicon balance spring protect the timepiece from external shocks and changes in pressure.
The watch is water-resistant to a depth of 100 metres and has a power reserve of 52 hours. The chronometer is certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) a rigorous 15 day and 15 night test, that guarantees the reliability of the timepiece.

Omega launched its range of Chronograph watches in the year 1957, under the Speedmaster collection. Originally, the watches in this collection were designed as a sports and racing chronograph, and not for space exploration. It was then selected by NASA in 1965 for all manned space flights.

This remarkable collection of Chronograph watches has been exemplified in several series. Featuring a timeless design, the rugged and reliable Moonwatch Chronograph, is a classic chronograph. The Speedmaster professional was the first watch to be worn on the moon and on all NASA’s manned missions since then. The Dark Side of the Moon collection is a tribute to the astronauts of the Apollo 8 who were the first to see the dark side of the moon. With a metallic grey bezel built from white ceramic, the Grey Side of the Moon has been inspired by the lunar dust, which has preserved all the steps of mankind on the moon. An updated form of the classic Mark II was launched in 2014, which features an illuminated tachymeter. Honouring the decades-long connection of the chronographs with motor racing, the Racing was launched. To commemorate the historic occasion of the first lunar landing, the Apollo 11 45th Anniversary was launched, with its case crafted from grade 2 titanium.  Other compelling series from the Speedmaster Collection include the Speedmaster 57, HB-SIA, Skywalker X-33 and Spacemaster Z-33.

The first watch on the moon was the “Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph”, worn by astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The producer, director, writer, and Hollywood actor, Tom Hanks and the adventurer, explorer, and mountaineer, Reinhold Messner, have been seen wearing an Omega Seamaster Professional.

Omega Speedmaster Mark II is truly a time machine that travelled through the pages of history and reached modern era. A perfect re- engineered model of the Speed master created in 1969, which was equipped with hand wound calibre 861. The modernized design of this true icon is a self-winding machine powered by the advanced Co-Axial calibre 3330. Through the design is more or less similar to that of 69 designed mark II, having steel case with link bracelet, grey dial with 3 sub dials featuring 30-minute counter at 3, 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock. It’s now more sophisticated and spellbinding. The orange fluorescent chronograph second has been given a sharp but bold look, matching with the index and the inner circle of dial. The tachymeter, hour, minute and tip of seconds hand is illuminated through Super-LumiNova. Where the transparent tachymeter is underlined, the hands are provided with coating. The barrel shape design is supreme that is complimented by the flat scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that gives seamless clarity with protection. Truly this omega has made it’s way through time defeating all possibility of getting lost in the history.

The dial of the watch reflects the look of the dashboard of a futuristic car and represents the thrill and adrenaline rush that is a part and parcel of motor racing. Crafted for motor sports enthusiasts, the watch has a tachymeter scale on the bezel for approximate speed measurements. The black dial has chronographs with bright red hands that enhances the bold and trendy appeal of the watch many times. The case and strap are made of steel and the watch is powered by automatic movement. There is a sapphire glass covering for protection against scratches.
