About the Omega Seamaster Collection

History

Launched in the year 1948, the Omega Seamaster Collection was inspired by the waterproof watches made toward the end of World War II for the British military. The watches in this collection have acclaimed worldwide fame due to their combination of exceptional stability and awe-inspiring designs. These watches are ideal for serious underwater sports and adventures as well as for sophisticated timekeeping.

The Aqua Terra

Balancing the act of symmetrical aesthetics and diving capabilities, the Seamaster Aqua Terra series is a brilliantly crafted set of timepieces. The sharp, triangular indexes coupled with long sword hands provide the Aqua Terra with high legibility. Apart from the high legibility, the Aqua Terra also features a date window at the 6 o’clock marker. Adding luxurious features such as diamonds and mother-of-pearl dials, the Aqua Terra also makes a perfect companion for women. This series is also available in a 150M water-resistant variant called the Aqua Terra 150M. The Aqua Terra is also home to various complications such as Annual Calendars, GMTs, Chronographs, and Worldtimers. The Aqua Terra Co-Axial Master Chronometer GMT Worldtimer features a centrally fixed globe that is crafted intricately.

The Diver 300M

James Bond is known for his extravagant taste in women and machines. He is also known for his impeccable palette in terms of timepieces. What adores the wrist of 007 is the Diver 300M which was first launched in 1993. Featuring skeleton hands and Ceragold or white enamel bezel, the Diver 300M is one of the most popular diving watches on the market right now. Be it the signature wave pattern on the dial or the round index markers, the Diver 300M is easily recognisable. The Diver 300M series also features an escape helium valve just like a diving bell. The Diver 300M also features timepieces that are crafted with ceramic and various limited editions such as the 007 Edition, the Nekton Edition, America’s Cup Edition, and the Beijing 2022 Edition. The Seamaster is also available in a James Bond Limited Edition Set that includes two perfectly crafted Seamaster in a unique briefcase.

The Planet Ocean

Paying homage to Omega’s ocean heritage, the Seamaster Planet Ocean series holds deep-rooted respect for Omega. First launched in 2005, the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean features Master Chronometer certification, innovative design, and state-of-the-art materials. This series is home to various complications such as GMTs and chronographs. There are also timepieces that are fitted with diamonds and precious stones on the bezel.

The Heritage Models

Home to one of the most coveted watches by Omega, the Seamaster Heritage series perfects the art of waving the traditions of watchmaking. Featuring classic timepieces such as the Seamaster 300 which took its inspiration from the very first Seamaster or the Railmaster which is a revival of the original Railmaster which was launched in 1957 and was one of the first anti-magnetic watches of the world. The Heritage series also features the Ploprof 1200M, a highly robust timepiece that offers water-resistant capabilities of 4000 feet. The series also features the unique Bullhead and the Seamaster 1948.

A long cherished dream has come true. I'm now a proud owner of this stunning timepiece called Omega Seamaster Professional Diver 300m . This timepiece is equipped with Co-Axial Escapement invented by the British horologist George Daniels and eventually bought by Omega. This new technology is a revolution in the way it deviates from the traditional Swiss Lever Escapement by letting a noteworthy avoidance of lubrication on escapement wheel and thereby ensuring longer service intervals. The movement in this watch is the Caliber 2500 which is a self-winding COSC certified chronometer with 27 jewels and 48 hours of power reserve.

The watch's blue ceramic dial with luminescent numerals always gravitates its viewer and so is the aesthetically placed Helium Escape valve at the10 o'clock position to release the Helium gas which gets accumulated during prolonged duration at greater depths of sea in a diving bell. The sapphire crystal is coated with Anti Reflective treatment on both the sides and according to my opinion the anti-reflection is more prominent in the older Seamaster Professional i.e. 2531.80 than this model. Other than the Anti Reflective treatment , the new model outperforms the older one in terms of looks, finesse and at ease for screwing/unscrewing the crown.

A very special thanks to the Hyderabad Ethos boutique and its manager Mr. Sharif for the exemplary service and guidance they showed in my pursuit of this incredible piece of art.

Omega Seamaster professional 300 m, the choice of commander James bond since the golden eye days is a 41 mm diver with a ceramic bezel in its present avatar. Along with the speed master it is one of the most iconic watches in the omega lineup. The COSC certified movement calibre 2500 with co-axial escapement developed by the master watchmaker George Daniels has an accuracy of -4/+6 seconds per day. The case has a helium escape valve at the 10 o'clock position for saturation diving further strengthening its tool watch characteristics. The seamaster hippocampus engraving at the back is a visual treat to watch. Whether it's a board room or a surf board, this seamaster feels at home. The crown jewel in my watch collection.

It is elegant, sturdy, reliable and just about the best dive watch that you can find. I can't think of one thing anyone would dislike about the beauty. You can nit pick if you like, but compared to it's next competitor ( Rolex Submariner) it is a value. The ceramic bezel, with the lacquered face is just gorgeous. It will be noticed, and complimented often. Dressed up or down it is never out place or style. The robust Co-Axial movement will last two lifetimes with limited maintenance. Omega said every 7-10 years to service it. I have friends with the CAL.2500 that are over 10 years old and still within COSC standards without any service whatsoever. If you find a better watch for 3500.00 let me know about it, I will buy one.
