With the “Century” as the progenitor of the Constellation Line of timepieces, it is only natural that the collection is defined by both its precision and appearance. The watch from which the Constellation collection derives inspiration was a limited edition self-winding chronometer, which was launched in 1948 to celebrate the brand’s 100th anniversary. In 1951, Omega broke its own record of precision in its Geneva Observatory and a year later the Constellation family was launched as a blend of timeless designs and breakthrough technologies. In 2009, the brand completely revamped the collection with the addition of new compelling designs to attract a new range of customers.
Defined by the “griffes” or claws found on its outer ring, the 220.127.116.11.55.003 is an ode to femininity and elegance. The 27 mm stainless steel case body has a stationary red gold bezel mounted on top of it for accentuating the appearance of the watch. Engraved with Roman numerals, the bezel lends a classic appearance to the timepiece’s timeless design. Exclusively crafted for the modern woman, this model can complement formal boardroom dresses as well as evening gowns equally well. The white mother-of-pearl dial contained within the case provides the watch with an unrivalled charm.
Presented on a two toned bracelet, the watch is crafted using alternating links of stainless steel and 18 k red gold. Dauphine hour and minute hands move flawlessly across the watch to indicate the time while a solo star acts as the symbol of the Constellation range and is placed at the 6 o’clock position. 12 sparkling diamonds serve as hour markers and have been handpicked by the brand on the basis of the 4 Cs of quality-cut, carat, colour and clarity. A domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal serves as the face of the watch and prevents the unique dial from any damage. Coated with an anti-reflective treatment on the inside, the crystal eliminates glare and makes it possible for you to read time even during the brightest sunlit days.
Equipped with the Omega 1376 caliber, a quartz precision movement, the timepiece is highly accurate and reliable. The rhodium plated finish ensures that the watch works under reduced friction condition, so that it requires less servicing sessions. This 18.104.22.168.58.001 model has an impressive battery life of 48 months and water resistivity to a depth of 100 m to make the timepiece suitable to be worn during activities like swimming and snorkelling.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
