Based in Saint-Imier, Longines is one of the world’s leading watch companies. Founded by Auguste Agassiz in the year 1832, the company celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2007. The company’s winged, hourglass logo stands as a symbol of quality and defense against counterfeiting. They specialize in manufacturing watches of different looks and designs, and hold the world record for producing the thinnest Quartz watch, the Feuille d’Or, a mere1.98 mm thick. The company has long been associated with sports. They have provided timers for the first Modern Olympics at Oslo. Blending tradition and modernity, Longiness presents its Saint-Imier collection. The watches from this range have a traditional look that is always in fashion.
The Longines Saint-Imier L2.722.214.171.124 speaks volumes about the company's journey towards perfection. The 39 millimetre steel and gold case is perfectly curved in a round shape to give the watch a fine aesthetic balance. It has a rose gold bezel around the silver polished dial. The bezel has the minutes marked. Classic looking, elongated pink gold hour’s hands point at indexes, and a highlighted Arabic numeral at 12 o’clock. The dial is protected by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, making the watch durable. A transparent back allows you to admire the beautiful and intricate workings.
The dual tone, gold and steel bracelet adds on to the classy look of the watch. This timepiece is a perfect daily wear for all men who intend to impress.
The dial has chronograph features at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, and a date display window between 4 and 5 o’ clock, increasing the functionality of the watch. Powered with automatic chronograph movement the watch is an expert time keeper. The watch is water resistant up to 30 metres under water, meaning it can survive accidental spills of water.
Be it in sporting competitions to decide the accuracy until a fraction of a second or on the wrists of world leaders, Longines watches have come to define a class by themselves. The company has been located in Saint Imier, a Swiss village since 1832 and has long-standing ties with the same. Being the lone watchmaker that was set up in St.Imier, it remains true to its historical values of tradition, elegance and sport. Therefore, it was only fitting that the company should launch a collection true to its native village.
This collection comes in elegant round-shaped cases. The materials used to craft the cases are mostly 18 carat pink gold or stainless steel. The bracelet is either made of stainless steel or alligator strap. The glass coating of the watch is a scratch-resistant, skillfully made sapphire crystal. An anti-reflection coating is provided on the underside of the glass. This makes sure that it can be used even in the sunniest of weather.
Adding to its all-purpose use, this watch comes with a water resistant capacity of up to 3 bars of pressure. In terms of functions, the watch has a self-winding mechanical movement beating at 28'800 vibrations per hours and providing 40 hours of power reserve. Some other watches in this collection provide up to 54 hours of power reserve. Certain watches in this collection have a chronograph mechanism. The hours are marked in Arabic numerals and indexes with Super-LumiNova coating for low light visibility.
A long line of celebrities has been associated with Longines. Simon Baker, the lead actor in The Mentalist, wore the Saint- Imier model L2.7126.96.36.199, a stainless steel and 18 carat gold watch with self-winding mechanical movement, date and column-wheel chronograph L688 in his first promotional shoot as a Longines ambassador.
