Jaquet Droz is known for its high quality timepieces and is one of the best watch manufacturing brands in the industry. Its Grande Seconde SW chronograph is known for its exceptional style and unique designs.
The dial of this Grande Seconde SW has received accolades for its meritorious styling, with rubber treatment applied flanges and the plates and apertures done up with rhodium finish. Its black dial contrasts perfectly with the quarter hours index and the chronograph hour index luxuriously bathed in orange Super-LumiNova. The hands are perfected with Rhodium finish and orange Super-LumiNova tips. Push buttons on the case have a rubber cast on them for robustness. This favoured model has its individual series numbers engraved on the case-back, which smoothly confers an individualistic shine to the model.
This amazing model is a trendsetter with a 45 mm stainless steel case and a sturdy in-built crown and push-buttons with rubber cast. The SW Chrono manages to set itself apart with every exclusive feature. The black dial offset by the natural black rubber straps provide perfect symmetry in colour and style.
The Jaquet Droz J029530409 is an exceptional time-piece, which comes geared with a chronograph hour counter positioned astutely at 9 o’clock and a chronograph minute counter at 3 o’clock. Thus proffering a clean and well thought out appearance to the model. A large date function is stylistically placed at the 12 o’ clock hour marker. Additionally, the SW Chrono boasts of housing the Jaquet Droz 6885-S, a self-winding mechanical movement with ruthenium finish and a power reserve of 40 hours. This model consists of a column wheel design for efficient working. The self-winding movement of this watch consists of an 18 carat white gold oscillating weight, providing hidden luxuries to the wearer. A frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour powers the model, which has been constructed using 37 jewels.
It was Pierre Jaquet-Droz’s passion for watchmaking, inherited by his relatives that brought this exclusive brand to life. From 1738 to 1747, he devoted himself entirely to clock making and produced a series of longcase (or "grandfather") clocks whose increasingly sophisticated movements that were unlike any other clocks ever made in that era.
The Grande Seconde SW collection is sporty reworking of the brands iconic model. Inspired by the Pocket Watch created by Pierre Jaquet-Droz in 1784, this collection is a modern take on the iconic design with a subtle mix of sportiness and modernity.
In 2014, following the release of the Grande Seconde SW red gold, Jaquet Droz unveiled three newer versions of the Grande Seconde SW line inspired by the contemporary colours- blue, anthracite gray and gray. These timepieces have only increased in sale since its start. The colour and the Cotes de Geneve decorated dial showcases impressive attention to detail.

Featured here is the Jacquet Droz sw chrono from the grand second series.its a feature rich that doesn't have much ornamental work(different from the regular JD's).the in house self winding 6885-s movement featuring a column wheel chronograph with white gold oscillating weight the impressive 37 jewels movement with 21600vph offers an impressive 40hrs power reserve with the chronograph..the big dial chronograph function in addition with the grande date at 12'o clock ensures a strong personality for the watch.the skeletal hand are rhodium plated and orange superluminova lumed for extra brightness.the black dial with the big registers ,the roman numerals with the steel case add a luxury touch to the sporty design .the rubber strap is strong and can withstand the heavy 45mm steel case with a secured clasp lock.
overall verdict: an excellent sportswatch with good features from a master jeweller.for chrnograph function i would recommend a graham or a rolex daytona for the same price. Jacquet Droz is a watch with rich heritage.
