About the Jaeger-LeCoultre Amvox Collection
History
Jaegar Le-Coultre and Aston Martin, two behemoths in their respective industries came together in 2004 to share their common expertise in matters of design and technical excellence to create the Amvox collection. In as early as 1920, Jaeger and LeCoultre exported more than 20,000 counters to the UK. In 1921, the duo started a workshop in London which specialized in automotive dashboard instruments. This led to the Aston Martin LM from the 1930’s being equipped with Jaeger instruments. The two realized their joint dream of innovation par excellence by 2004 and joined hands to create a stunner of a time-piece, the AMVOX1 alarm, inspired by the 1956 Memevox which contained the automatic Memevox calibre.
Design
Amvox watches are known for their concentric ring displays on the face, with different numeral sizes characteristic to the dial. Even numbers are painted visibly bigger than odd hour-markers; this clears up space and confers greater readability. The watches design and use of material highlights significantly its bond with Aston Martin. The leather straps used for the collection are the exact material also used in the Aston Marin cars.
Features
The Amvox was a product of the joint collaboration between the head-haunchos of two technology based industries. This line was created to merit racing and cars designed by Aston Martin. The A and the M stand for the initials of Aston Martin, the vox gives due credit to the memevox calibre. The AMVOX2 Chronograph portrays superior technology disguised in deceptive simplicity. With this new innovation, the chronograph can be manipulated simply by pressing on the Sapphire crystal of the watch case, disregarding the need to manually press stop, start and reset buttons. The AMVOX3 Tourbillon GMT has many unbeatable characteristics such as the first ever round ceramic case by the brand, the in-house automatic Calibre 988 tourbillon movement and a patented high-tech oscillating weight to improve winding movement. The alarm disc in the middle dial of the JLC AMVOX1 R-Alarm is inspired by the radiator grille of the Aston Martin DBR9. This is quintessentially a driver’s watch through and through.
