History
Established in the 1800s, IWC is known for its uniquely designed, complicated yet elegant timepieces. Being an integrated watchmaker, IWC both creates and assembles all parts of a watch in-house. Known throughout the world for its consistent technological developments, the brand has been greatly involved in developing anti-magnetic and anti-gravity movements.

Design
Aquatimer Chronograph Blue IW376711 is a men's professional divers’ watch that features a stainless steel case that is 44 mm in diameter and 14 mm in thickness. Complimented with a solid case back, a unidirectional rotating divers’ bezel that is luminescent and a screw-in crown, the timepiece has an elegant feel to it. The round dial is blue in colour and covered by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass that is complimented with a blue rubber strap that is adjustable with a pin and tang buckle. The dial features stick-style luminescent hands and markers that ensure enhanced visibility in the dark as well as under water. The bezel is blue and white in colour, and has clear numbering and a high-quality Super-LumiNova that gives it a striking face and elegant style. The luminescent bezel, hands and markers ensure clear visibility even during night-time dives.

Features
The watch is equipped with a Swiss made automatic, self-winding movement. It is water-resistant to a depth of 120 meters. The watch sports a chronograph function as well as an automatic day and date function located at the 3 o’clock position. It has a 30 minute sub-dial at 12 o'clock, a 12 hour sub-dial at 6 o'clock and a seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock.

History
Pocket watches used by pilots were the norm when aviation first became a science. IWC soon changed that by revolutionising wristwatches wholly modelled for pilots. In 1936 the first special Pilot’s watch was introduced into the market, fitted and customized only for the pilot’s convenience. In 1940 the world was introduced to the Big Pilot’s watch which was a classic rendition of a cockpit design in an aircraft. The equipment was laid out in accordance to the placing of instruments in a cockpit. This was soon followed by IWC’s cleverly engineered Mark XII which was crafted as a tribute to the Royal Air force in 1948 and has been loved and used for more than 2 score years till date.

Features
The first few editions of the Pilot's watches were crafted with sound and pleasing aesthetics. Built with a clean and simplistic look in mind, the watch had a rotating bezel with an arrowhead index to help keep track of short periods of time as well as an antimagnetic escapement incorporated in it. The luminescent hands and numerals provide high contrast and great visualization. These luxury time-pieces have bold, rugged straps that embody the spirit of the adventurer. Sapphire glass in highly polished form is used in the making of these time-pieces to provide resistance to air pressure. This is purely a traveller’s watch. Many outstanding modifications and improved movements have been implemented in this collections design since 2012. The cases are made from a variety of dependable and fashionable material such as rose gold, stainless steel and ceramic. The dial comes in individualistic colours including black, blue, silver and brown, pampering customers till they are spoilt for choice.

Associations
The IWC’s Pilot's watch family welcomed in its midst a fresh new edition - the Top Gun watch, named in honour of the special training course offered by the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School, the ‘Strike Fighter Tactics instructor’ which has been famously dubbed ‘Top Gun’. Five new intricately designed models of the Top Gun collection came out to the fore in 2012, more than enough for Top Gun to delineate and become an independent line altogether.

IWC is a reputed name when it comes to crafting masterful time pieces. Of the many collections, the Pilot series has a special appeal that rarely fails to exude raw but understated masculinity. This particular watch is IWC Pilot’s double Chronograph or rattranpante as watch purists would prefer. The double chronograph function is brought about by the third push button at 10 o’clock, which can be used for intermediate timing. Its design is inspired by cockpit instrumentation from the iconic Junkers Ju 52 from the 1930’s. Its ‘propeller’ style hands, updated date display which simulate a traditional altimeter; and the red highlights including the small red permanent seconds hand, red tip of the chronograph and small triangle for the date display all give it a “in the cockpit” feel. The movement is housed in a water resistant (up to 60m) soft-iron inner case with a regal black alligator leather strap to complete it.
For the aviator within you.
