About the Hublot Classic Fusion Collection

Classic Fusion-Revitalising Carlo Crocco's Classic

Back in 1980, while the Swiss watchmaking world was reeling through the ‘Quartz Crisis’, one Italian watchmaker decided to spice things up in the horological community. The result was ‘Hublot’. Hublot was released in 1980 with the Hublot Classic, a watch that combined the elegance of a yellow gold case and the robustness of a rubber strap. This was the first time that someone had mixed a precious metal with an affordable rubber strap. Today, the legacy of Carlo Crocco and his brand is carried by the Hublot Classic Fusion collection. Combining the art of fusing precious metals with rubber straps or collaborating with personalities such as Richard Orlinski, the collection has the avant-garde nature of the brand.

The Classics

Tracing its roots to its origins, the Hublot Classic Fusion is home to timepieces that depict the early history of the brand. Be it the 3-Hands series or the Chronograph series, the collection endows the legacy left by Carlo Crocco during the 80s. The 3-hands series is a direct descendant of the original Hublot. Be it the pencil hands or the 6 screws on the bezel, it has the same zest as the original Hublot. Even today, the 3-hands series is equipped with rubber straps and precious materials such as gold, titanium, and ceramic. Though few of the timepieces in the collection are also equipped with a leather strap. Similar to the 80s Hublot, the date window is fixed at the 3 o’clock marker. Bringing some variations to its classics, Hublot also installed the Chronograph series. The Chronograph series is very much similar to its 80s cousin but comes equipped with two sub-dials functioning as chronographs operated by two pushers. The sub-dials are located at the 3 and the 9 o’clock marker. The date window is now fixed at the 6 o’clock marker. The Chronograph series is also equipped with a skeletonised dial variant called the Aerofusion.

The Aerofusion Moonphase

How can it be a Hublot if it cannot bring certain innovative timepieces even under its Classic Fusion collection? The Aerofusion Moonphase series under the Classic Fusion collection is a more complex version of the 3-hands and the Chronograph. The skeletonised dial is equipped with a day and month window under the 12 o’clock marker. Under the day and month are two sub-dials, one between the 9 and the 12 o’clock marker displaying days and the other between the 12 and the 3 o’clock marker displaying months. The passion for calendars does not end here, there is a moon phase indicator over the 6 o’clock marker. On the outer ring of the moon phase sub-dial is another calendar displaying the date. All this is offered with the subtle reminiscent of the original Hublot with pencil hands and 6 screws on the bezel.
