The Chopard Happy Sport collection is a redefined version of its predecessor, Happy Diamonds collection, launched in 1993. The Happy Sport collection spell bounds the watch enthusiasts by mixing different worlds of steel and diamonds, as Karin Scheufele blended contemporary and traditional design technologies, reinventing the dazzling diamond dial motion.
Defining ladylike sophistication, the Chopard Happy Sport 278477-3014 for women, stays rooted to the traditional feminine design exhibiting a modern take on luxurious style. This time keeper comes with a round case fashioned out of stainless steel. A fine touch of silver polish is given to the steel bezel, to conclude the detailing of the watch with a brilliant finish. The silver bezel rests a Chopard signature chased black lacquered finished dial, setting the time piece apart in looks. The black dial is engraved with silver toned appliqued Roman and index hour markers with a luminescent fill. Toned silver sword arms with a plume second’s hands contribute to the increased dial readability.
The silver lugs are attached to a single silver toned Oyster bracelet, enhancing the beauty of this time piece. You can easily wear and remove the timepiece using the hidden stainless steel folding clasp, provided for bracelet security and extra comfort. A silver cabochon crown with a steel case back adds to the luxurious looks of this time piece.
The vivacity of the Happy Sports collection is defined by its three floating diamonds featured on the bottom of the dial. A date window is also provided between 4 o’ clock and 5 o’ clock dial position. Its calibre is driven by battery powered Quartz movement, known for its accuracy and precision. With an impressive resistance limit of 30 meters, this time keeper can easily withstand accidental rain splashes. The anti-reflective Sapphire crystal glass coating over the case window protects the dial from damage, especially its sensitive inner elements from direct contact. It also increases dial readability, making the time reading comfortable on an extreme sunny day.
1993 saw a massive revolution in the field of luxury watches for women when Chopard became the first brand in the world to combine the different worlds of steel and diamonds, in a manner that left watch aficionados spellbound. The brainchild of Caroline Scheufele, Artistic Directior and Co-President of Chopard, and her brother, Karl Friedrich, the Happy Sport collection soon became the favourite of all connoisseurs. The idea that ‘diamonds are happiest when they are free’ was suggested by Karin Scheufele, their mother with the release of the Happy Diamonds collection in the 1970s, and is further exemplified by the Happy Sport- a masterful blend of the contemporary and traditional.
The most distinguishing feature of the Happy Sport is its revolutionary incorporation of ‘floating diamonds’. Each watch from this line boasts free moving diamonds just above the dial, most commonly gold plated. The technology in this novel design involves two parallel layers of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass, with the cavity in between being an ideal size to allow free movement of the diamonds, while preventing toppling over. The exact technology, however, is maintained as a closely guarded secret by the brand, adding to the watch’s intrigue. The resultant effect is that of a playful, chic watch that retains the impeccable assembly characteristic of Chopard. Variations of the diamonds include exquisitely crafted fish, four leaved clovers, and other such tranquil adornments.
Though initially launched in a circular shape, Chopard has gone on to make square and oval shaped cases in small and large sizes, made in stainless steel, 18K rose, yellow or white gold or a mix of rose gold and stainless steel. The crown is set with a sapphire cabochon. The dial, available in a range of hues, is silver guilloched in the centre, with some models being completely embedded with diamonds. It contains rhodiumed or gold toned hands and index markers, with a date window in most versions. The movement of the watch is either Quartz or mechanical self-winding, for precise timekeeping.
