The Cartier Tortue time piece, dedicated to the distinctive shape of a tortoise’s shell, carries on its case the distinguished octagonal crown set with a faceted sapphire. Its dial is silvered guilloche housing the sunray effect that makes this time piece an other-worldly experience for the watch lover. A treat for the eyes are the sword shaped hands made from blue steel to add a dash of colour to the dial. The strap of the watch is made from black alligator with ardillon buckle in 18 carat rhodium-finish, white gold for contrast.
The Cartier Tortue watch model W1556363 is a classic ladies watch with its distinguished curves and rhodium finish. It contains the Cartier calibre 430 MC, mechanical movement with manual winding. A 39 mm case diameter protects an 18 carat rhodium-finish white gold case, with a thickness of 8.6 mm and width of 31 mm. This watch contains the hours, minutes and seconds indications with a simple glory. The case has been proven to be water resistant up to 30 meters under water.
Cartier has always been sensitive to the needs of women all over the world, under privileged or otherwise. It has taken initiative to better the lifestyle of women in developing countries by forming the Cartier Charitable Foundation. The Cartier Charitable Foundation is a needs-based and result-oriented philanthropic strategy that aims to build the capacities and strengthen the resilience of women. This organization is supportive of innovation that is impactful and lasting in low income countries that will promote women’s economic and social development, provide humanitarian assistance to children when natural disaster strikes, and engage with communities to encourage the responsible management of natural resources.
The Tortue collection was officially launched in 1912. The collection with its tortoise inspired case became a gamechanger in terms of design among its typically round-shaped contemporaries.
This unique collection showcases edgy designs yet retains all the signature qualities of a Cartier. The characteristic feature of this collection is the tonneau-shaped case available in pink or white gold, which drew its inspiration from a tortoise shell. The strap meant to supplement the quiet sophistication of the case, is offered in textile or leather.
The dynamic Tortue collection stands out for the myriad functions that it avails for its user. Select models feature a perpetual calendar with an easy-to-read display. The days of the week are indicated with a charming retrograde hand. A multiple time zone indicator is also available in a few of these luxury watches with an option to change the time zone as and when necessity arises; thus making it the ideal collection for a globe trotter. Some pieces also come with a 24-hour time indicator with adjustment for summers and winters. You can choose from automatic and manual watch movements for precise timekeeping.
