A heritage that stands as an exceptional institution that creates not only watches, but a variety of other accessories, is the Cartier that has become synonymous with objects of beauty and quality. With a number of exquisite pieces and collections, the Cartier institution has defined and redefined itself ever since its inception in 1847.
Watch making is an art that has been mastered by only a few, of which Cartier was one. He envisaged a future where the wrist watch would replace pocket watches and larger timepieces. Hence he created the first wristwatch in 1904 honouring his friend, an aviator; Santos Dumont. Ever since then, a variety of collections have been added to this rich heritage, making Cartier one of the most renowned faces in watch making even today.
Designed for women, The Tank Solo W5200025 is a reworked version of the original Tank. Rectangular in shape, the case measures 34.8mm x 27.4mm and is 5.55mm in thickness. The dial is silver opaline with sward shaped hands in blued steel. Featuring a beaded crown in 18K pink gold and a sapphire crystal as a case window, the watch reflects ethereal elegance with a modest design.
A round scale alligator skin strap is attached to the 18K gold ardillon buckle. A synthetic cabochon shaped spinal embellishes the crown. The watch is not only a tribute to the Allied powers, but also a homage to fearless men and women all over the world.
A watch that can be used for daily activities of life, this piece is water resistant up to 30m. This watch incorporates a quartz movement. The key tenets of the Cartier institution are the brilliant designs and technical precision, both of which are ensured by this piece.
The First World War succeeded in inspiring a whole line of watches when Louis Cartier, the founder of the iconic Cartier brand fashioned watches inspired by the Renault tanks introduced by the Americans on the Western Front. These intricately designed timepieces born from an unusual inspiration were eventually introduced by the brand as the Tank collection in 1917, before they were launched in the markets in 1919.
The Tank collection has cases available in both rectangle and square shapes similar to the proportions of the tough war-machine. The case is further accentuated with a cabochon crown and sword shaped hour and minute hands set in a classic dial with Roman numerals, exuding a vintage feel. The distinctively patterned bracelet is the highlight of this collection. It consists of rectangular links ingeniously integrated with vertical sidebars, which bring to mind the rugged construction of the tank’s tracks used during war.
Originally introduced as far back as World War I, today this coveted collection is crafted using cutting-edge technology to feature enhanced functions such as calendar and power reserve displays. They also offer a broad range of movements from the simple yet precise Quartz to the technologically complicated and unerringly accurate automatic.
The Tank collection finds its manifestation in 6 ranges: Francaise, Americaine, Anglaise, MC, Solo and Louis Cartier.
