About the Ulysse Nardin Marine Collection
Essence
The Ulysse Nardin Marine is a seamless homage to the never-ending ocean. Endorsed by 55 Navies around the world, the Marine collection is a reflection of the brand's centuries association with crafting marine chronometers. With 4324 certifications under its belt, the Ulysse Nardin Marine collection is engraved with a unique number stamped on a plate on the left side of the case. Leaving a statement everywhere it goes, the Ulysse Nardin Marine collection is a large collection of watches and develops a bold stance on the wrist.
Design And Features
Inspired by the early chronometers, the Ulysse Nardin Marine collection is available in 42, 43, and 44mm case sizes. Taking its inspiration from the early pocket watches, most of the timepieces are equipped with a small seconds window over the 6 o'clock marker with a date function inside the sub-dial and a power reserve indicator below the 12 o'clock marker. In some cases, the small seconds sub-dial is absent with a flying tourbillon replacing it. Whereas, the Marine Annual Chronograph is equipped with a month marker at the 9 o'clock window and a 30 minutes chronograph on the 3 o'clock marker. The date is displayed on a small circular window fixed over the 6 o'clock marker. The Marine collection also features a series of timepieces that are studded with a moon phase indicator inside the small seconds sub-dial at the 6 o'clock marker.
The Mega Yacht
It is not just a watch, it is a power watch. The Ulysse Nardin Mega Yacht is a limited edition timepiece that drips elegance and complexity out of its dial. A timepiece equipped with a moon phase, a tide indicator, a power reserve indicator, and a tourbillon, the Mega Yacht is an exorbitant timekeeper. The tourbillon over the 6 o'clock marker is encased inside a cage shaped like a propeller. Whereas, the power reserve indicator is in the shape of a ship's anchor. The anchor falls down as the movement starts to unwind. Whereas, the tidal wave indicator is placed at the 8 o'clock marker and offers information about waves corresponding to the moon phase indicators. The 3D moon is intricately crafted as it depicts the craters on the moon with finesse.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Ulysse Nardin developed and created the in-house calibre UN-118 in collaboration with Sigatec. It was the first Ulysse Nardin movement to feature a DIAMonSIL escapement (a combination of diamond and silicon). In addition, it is equipped with the signature patented variable inertia balance wheel and patented silicon hairspring. UN-118 is an automatic movement comprising 248 components, including 50 jewels and operates at 4Hz. It offers a 60-hour power reserve and supports date and power reserve indicator functions along with the conventional hours, minutes, and small seconds. The finishing on this movement is impeccable and luxurious with pèrlage, circular Côtes de Genève stripes, and diamond angling.
