The Ulysse Nardin Blast represents a bold fusion of modern architecture and haute horlogerie. This avant-garde timepiece features a striking 45mm case crafted from a sophisticated combination of 18K rose gold and black ceramic, creating a powerful contemporary aesthetic. The open-worked dial offers a spectacular view of the movement's architecture, with an X-shaped bridge design that draws the eye through multiple layers of complexity. The flying tourbillon at six o'clock provides a mesmerising focal point, while rose gold hour markers and hands ensure excellent legibility against the skeleton backdrop. A micro-rotor visible at 12 o'clock adds to the technical appeal. At its heart beats the UN-172 automatic movement, featuring Ulysse Nardin's revolutionary flying tourbillon with silicon escapement technology. This self-winding calibre offers a 72-hour power reserve and showcases exceptional finishing throughout its visible components.

About the Ulysse Nardin Blast Collection
With the launch of the Blast collection in 2020, Ulysse Nardin once again established their technical supremacy in watchmaking, delivering a compendium of complexity, craftsmanship, and revolutionary design. The introductory model, Blast Tourbillon, carried the shape X at the centre of its design, accompanied by a rectangular bridge, creating an aesthetic that has become an instantly recognisable signature of the collection. Today, all timepieces within the Blast collection flaunt this motif in various ways. Blast has also become a platform where the brand continuously experiments, creating unique, complex watches that stand out. Additionally, a few comparatively simple watches (if you can call a Blast that,) like the Dual Time and Skeleton X, ensure versatility in spades.
Blasting With Extraordinary Complications
The Ulysse Nardin Blast collection hosts several haute horlogerie models. In 2021, Ulysse Nardin released the Blast Hourstriker, a timepiece that boasted, in addition to tourbillon, a striking mechanism that triggers an on-demand chime. This complication, attempted only by a few watchmakers, is ingeniously displayed on the Hourstriker's skeletonised dial, creating a spellbinding visual spectacle.
Another indelible timepiece within the Blast collection is the Blast Moonstruck, designed by the genius watchmaker Ludwig Oechslin with the brand maven Rolf Schynder in 2009. It takes on a bold look with a black ceramic and black DLC-treated titanium case. The beautiful depiction of the motion of the Sun and Moon on the watch's dial creates a celestial reverie on the wrist.
One of the latest released within the collection is Blast Free Wheel Marquetry, released in 2023. The watch is exceptionally designed, with movement components floating on the dial. The use of blue shade and the mosaic-like motif work magically against the signature Blast case. Two more iterations of Free Wheel populate the Blast collection, rendering it a wholesome platform for horological mastery.
