About the Tutima Glashütte M2 Collection

History

Cold War was an era of warmongers and war technologies. Apart from panic regarding nuclear annihilation, this era summed up technological advancements that would shape the world. NATO, a military alliance of the western bloc that included the United States of America too had a vast arsenal of weapons. The pilots of NATO were concerned about quartz timepieces as they were not able to perform at high altitudes. In 1984, Tutima came up with the M2, a watch that performed exceptionally and had a robust build. Today, the Tutima Glashütte M2 collection is similar to the M2 that was used by NATO pilots during the 1980s.

Features

During the 80s, the NATO forces had certain prerequisites such as good legibility, reliable functionality, high comfort level and water resistance, a large sweep minute counter, pressure-resistant for use to 15,000 meters above sea level, and shockproof for blows, vibrations, and survivability during the 7g of acceleration. Tutima provided the alliance with these conditions and a clean design Today, the M2 carries the same DNA such as a pure titanium case that can survive pressures up to 30 ATM. Apart from the pressures, the movement is protected by an additional case made with a nickel-iron alloy that protects the powerhouse from magnetic fields. The M2 also features a chronograph variant for complex calculations. These chronographs are equipped with brilliantly crafted rotating bezels.

The Seven Seas

After conquering the sky, Tutima decided to set its eyes on the ocean. By bringing the Tutima M2 Seven Seas series into the picture, the militaristic values of Tutima took on an amphibious role. The M2 Seven Seas features a water-resistance capability of approximately 500 meters while retaining the silhouette of the original M2. These highly-legible timepieces also feature a day/date window at the 3 o'clock marker with integrated lugs. Another iteration of the Seven Seas is the Seven Seas S. The “S” here stands for steely, sporty and spectacular. For the first time, Tutima included brushed and partially polished stainless steel on the case of the M2 with a protected crown. Offering both functionality and aesthetics, the M2 is available in various colours.

The Coastline

For land-based adventures, the newest addition to the M2 collection is the M2 Coastline. A perfectly crafted timepiece with no corners or edges. Built from titanium, the M2 Coastline also features an integrated bracelet that can be switched with a leather strap. The Coastline also features a chronograph variant with a horizontal setup of the sub-dials.
