About the Titoni Seascoper Collection
Titoni’s resilience through the quartz crisis of the 1970s is exemplified by the launch of their first diver’s watch in 1979, the Seascoper. This marked a significant milestone, as it was developed in collaboration with Uli Kunz, the renowned marine biologist, photographer, and author. The original Seascoper, designed to withstand the rigours of deep-sea exploration, has since become a cornerstone in Titoni’s legacy of precision and innovation.
Features And Iterations
The modern-day Seascoper 600 continues this tradition, named after its impressive water resistance of 600 metres. Beyond its technical prowess, the Seascoper 600 features a protected push-down crown, ensuring additional security during dives. The watch is equipped with a ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel, a standard in diving watches, allowing divers to track time underwater with ease. At three o’clock, a date window provides practicality, while luminescent hands enhance legibility in deep-sea conditions. Another functional aspect is the helium valve at nine o’clock, designed to protect the watch during saturation dives. While most Seascoper 600 models are crafted from robust stainless steel, the Seascoper 600 CarbonTech variant is made from lightweight yet durable carbon fibre. Furthermore, the CarbonTech models feature eco-conscious straps made from upcycled ocean plastic, a collaboration with Tide Ocean SA.
Complementing the Seascoper 600 is the Seascoper 300, a more accessible model with water resistance up to 300 metres. Like its counterpart, it features a ceramic unidirectional bezel, offering similar functionality at a more affordable price point.
Movement
Inside the Seascoper 600 is Titoni’s in-house T10 movement, which is COSC-certified for chronometer-grade precision. This marks Titoni’s first independently crafted movement, showcasing their commitment to autonomy. The Seascoper 300, meanwhile, is powered by the reliable SW 200-1 movement, also COSC-certified, ensuring both accuracy and durability.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Sellita, once a reassembly company, is now the second-largest movement maker in Europe. They are known for producing the renowned calibre SW200-1, an automatic movement that serves as a popular alternative to the calibre ETA 2824-2. It is widely used by many watchmakers as the main and base calibre. The SW 200-1 powers essential watch functions such as the three central hands display and date, boasting a 38-hour power reserve and operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. However, these specifications can be adjusted by brands to meet their specific requirements.
