About the Singer Reimagined 1969 Collection
The Singer Reimagined 1969 collection stands as an embodiment of horological ingenuity, reinterpreting the ethos of a transformative year in watchmaking and global culture. Drawing inspiration from the remarkable developments of 1969, a year marked by events and the debut of the world’s first automatic chronographs, Singer Reimagined aimed to encapsulate this spirit within their designs.
Iterations And Design Language
The collection is built around two main models: the 1969 Chronograph and the 1969 Timer. The 1969 Chronograph, celebrated as the centrepiece of their collection, incorporates a reimagined version of the Agengraphe calibre. This movement, known for revolutionising chronograph mechanics, is customised for the collection to fit within a compact 40mm case. The result is a timepiece that prioritises chronograph functionality, with a unique time display via apertures at the dial’s lower section. This allows the centrally mounted hands to measure elapsed hours and minutes up to 60 hours, an impressive capability exclusive to Singer Reimagined.
Contrasting this is the 1969 Timer displaying the current time through traditional centrally mounted hour and minute hands. A constantly running second-hand offers the advantage of a quick-reset function, activated by the pusher at two o’clock. This function, tied to a refined flyback mechanism, allows for rapid timing of shorter intervals, underlining the innovative spirit of the collection. The design ethos of Singer Reimagined extends beyond the mechanics, embodying a blend of elegance and sportiness rooted in the vintage motifs of the 1960s and 1970s. This careful balance ensures the watches maintain a timeless appeal while integrating state-of-the-art horological advancements. Both the AGH 6365 and AGH 6363 movements, based on the award-winning AgenGraphe and the Flytrack, have been tailored specifically for this collection. Their intricate mechanisms provide enhanced readability and performance, embodying the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries while honouring their muse, the revolutionary timepieces of 1969.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
The 6363 is a hand-wound calibre that powers the simpler 1969 Timer watches and is adapted from the revolutionary Agengraphe movement. It features central hours, minutes, and seconds, as well as a unique zero-reset timer with a flyback function. When the pusher located at two o'clock is pressed, the central seconds hand becomes a chronograph hand, separate from the movement, thanks to a proprietary clutch system. The calibre 6363 consists of 237 components, including 37 jewels, operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, and offers a power reserve of 72 hours.
