About the Panerai Luminor Due Collection

Departing from their long-standing tradition of large watches, Panerai introduced the Luminor Due collection—Due being the Italian word for “two”—in 2016. This new line presented a more compact, refined, and dressier version of the classic Luminor, offering a fresh and elegant alternative within the Panerai portfolio. The Luminor Due collection successfully blended the brand's iconic design with a contemporary twist, appealing to those seeking a sophisticated timepiece without sacrificing the signature Panerai aesthetic.

Design And Features

The Panerai Luminor Due collection was first launched with 42mm and 45mm cases, with 42mm being the smallest Panerai at the time. In 2018, a 38mm case size took over this title. These watches are slim enough to slide effortlessly under a formal shirt cuff. Their slightly domed crystal and angled lugs result in an effortlessly proportioned design. The Luminor Due collection boasts a unisex appeal, making it a staple on the wrists of both men and women. Key features include the crown guard at three and clean, understated dials, similar to the original Luminor collection. Arabic numerals distinctively represent the hour markers at 12 and six o'clock, maintaining the signature Panerai aesthetic.

With the advent of the elegant yet robust Luminor Due, it was necessary to reel in a slew of complications. While many were included and later omitted, the moon phase remains a mainstay feature within the collection. It is incorporated in the Luminor Due Luna watches through a realistic moon phase indicator at the three o'clock marker.

Mechanism

The Luminor Due collection is equipped with the automatic P.900 and P.900/MP (moon phase) movements. These calibres power the classic two-hand display, a small seconds counter, and either a date window or a moon phase, depending on the model. The thickness of these movements, ranging from 4.2mm to 5.6mm, contributes to the timepiece's elegant slimness. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, they ensure precise timekeeping and offer a generous three-day power reserve.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT

The Calibre P.900 blends compact proportions with a three-day power reserve. Initially unveiled by Panerai in 2019 as part of their slender Luminor Due series, it has since been integrated into Submersible models and is now featured in both Luminor and Radiomir timepieces. With a diameter of only 28.2mm and a svelte height of 4.2mm, the P.900 movement offers a discreet presence. Manufactured by Manufacture Horlogère ValFleurier, which akin to Panerai, is under the umbrella of the Richemont luxury group.
