About the Nomos Glashutte Tangomat Collection
History
For 30 years, the Nomos Glashutte Tangomat collection has been the benchmark for formal dress watches. Launched in 1992, the Tangomat was also the first automatic timepiece by Nomos. Since then, Tangomat has provided the brand with stable recognition.
Essence
The Nomos Glashutte Tangomat collection is yet another Bauhaus-derived collection of timepieces. The art of speaking more with lesser words has astonished the world and this is what Nomos carries with itself. Similarly, the Tangomat collection is just like any other watch inside the Nomos arsenal but differs in the criterion of being typically German. With the no-nonsense attitude and clutter-free dial, the Nomos Glashutte Tangomat is nothing short of an exemplary example of German mechanical acumen. A dress watch to the core, the Tangomat lies at the epicentre of every formal occasion.
The GMT
It is rare for Nomos to incorporate the ideas of a typical watchmaker. A simple yet intuitive design has been the brand’s philosophy for years. But with the Tangomat GMT, it has changed a bit. Nomos employs only two multi-timers, the other being the Zurich. The Nomos Glashutte Tangomat GMT is a perfect example of a clean, interactive GMT. The city window is subtly placed at the 9 o’clock marker and the date window at 3 o’clock. The timepiece is even fitted with a small seconds dial at the 6 o’clock markers. All this and the dial still retains the minimalistic nature of the brand.
Movements
Being the first automatic timepiece by Nomos, the Tangomat was also equipped with the first automatic in-house calibre by Nomos which was christened the DUW 5001. Apart from the 5001, the Tangomat is also home to the DUW 5101 which includes a date window at the 6 o’clock marker. Moreover, the Tangomat GMT is home to one of the most complex movements crafted by Nomos, the DUW 5201.
