About the Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster Collection
The Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver, introduced in 1963, exemplifies Nivada Grenchen’s commitment to multifunctional design. As a tool watch, the CASD was one of the first chronographs designed to meet the needs of divers, aviators, and land-based adventurers. Its robust design, coupled with its ability to withstand the pressures of underwater environments, made it a standout timepiece. Within the Chronomaster collection, Nivada Grenchen features the three series known as the Interchangeable Bezel models, the 1970s-inspired chronograph distinguished by its 12 o’clock date window and bold dial accents, Chronoking, and the revived and restored Valjoux 23 models.
Design And Craftsmanship
Staying true to its origins from the 1960s, the Chronomaster blends classic aesthetics with modern performance. The case, at 38 mm in diameter, remains faithful to the vintage proportions, offering a perfect balance between wearability and function. Its domed sapphire crystal not only enhances durability but also adds a touch of refinement, offering clarity and scratch resistance while maintaining the curved profile reminiscent of the original acrylic crystals. One of the defining features of the Chronomaster is its complex yet intuitive dial layout. The two sub-dials, located at three and nine o’clock, serve as crucial elements for the chronograph’s functionality while the watch's rotating bezel plays a key role in its multifunctionality.
Additionally, the Chronomaster offers various design options for hands and dials, including choices like the arrow or baton hands, as well as distinctive colour variations such as Panda and Orange Boy. In terms of construction, the pump pushers and crown are fully polished, with the crown featuring Nivada’s signature “N” logo, adding a subtle yet distinctive touch of branding. The drilled lugs make strap changes easy, while the included leather strap with finger tabs enhances comfort and adaptability. The brand have equipped the Chronomaster with the Sellita SW510 and Landeron 70 movement available in both automatic and manual-winding variations giving the wearers the flexibility to choose their preferred method of powering the watch.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
All the Chronomaster models are powered by the manually wound Landeron movement, marking a return to Nivada Grenchen’s historic roots. Landeron, once a key supplier of movements to the brand, regains its rightful place in these new editions. Reviving the spirit of the original Landeron 70, the Chronomaster is now powered by the manually wound Landeron 70 movement, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a power reserve of approximately 46 hours. Equipped with 32 jewels, the calibre supports hours, minutes, small seconds, tacymeter, chronograph functions, and, in the Chronoking models, a 24-hour indicator. A newly integrated sapphire crystal caseback further highlights this return to tradition, allowing wearers to admire the movement’s reliable and vintage-inspired construction.
