About the Mühle-Glashütte S.A.R. Rescue-Timer Collection
Mühle Glashütte’s SAR Collection stands as a testament to the brand's commitment to precision and functionality, deeply rooted in their nautical heritage. While the brand's history dates back to 1869, their expertise in crafting precision instruments truly shines through in the SAR Collection. Designed in collaboration with the German Maritime Search and Rescue Association (DGzRS), these watches exemplify the rigorous demands of maritime professionals.
Exploring The Purpose-Built Excellence Of Mühle Glashütte’s SAR Collection
The SAR Collection features robust, purpose-built timepieces, each element carefully designed to meet practical requirements. The SAR Rescue-Timer incorporates a 4mm-thick crystal and offers a water resistance of up to 1000 metres, to withstand pressure and a shock-resistant rubber bezel. These features were combined with hooded lugs and screw bars to ensure durability while reducing the risk of accidental injuries during rescue operations. A crown positioned at four o’clock ensures comfort and reduces the risk of snagging. The design prioritises function over form, creating a robust yet unobtrusive timepiece. The SAR Flieger-Chronograph, another notable model, adds chronograph functionality, further broadening the utility of the collection. The watches are designed for naval rescue planes, which combine precise timekeeping with a shock-resistant case to withstand rigorous conditions. While these watches are purpose-built for professionals, their rugged design and reliability resonate with individuals seeking timepieces that can endure both adventure and everyday wear.
The SAR Collection is not limited to the Rescue-Timer alone. Introduced in 2013, The Seebataillon GMT, developed in collaboration with the German Navy’s Seebataillon, showcases the adaptability of Mühle Glashütte’s watches for men in specialised roles. This model features a GMT function, accommodating the needs of naval personnel during international missions. Marking its tenth anniversary in 2023, the Seebataillon GMT received a refreshed design with a blue rubber strap and a titanium folding clasp, adding a touch of modernity to its robust build. Whether considering the SAR Rescue-Timer or the Seebataillon GMT, the collection underscores the brand’s ethos of creating precision instruments that excel in every environment. Mühle Glashütte’s watches within the SAR collection are perfect for those who value utility, precision, and an undeniable connection to maritime excellence.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
The Sellita SW200-1 is a reliable automatic movement often compared to ETA’s 2824-2, with a robust design and efficient performance. It features a 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) frequency and a power reserve of 41 hours. With 26 jewels, the movement ensures smooth operation, and its bi-directional ball-bearing rotor aids in winding. The SW200-1 also includes a quickset date, hacking seconds, and is hand-windable. The movement is protected by an anti-shock system (Novodiac or Incabloc) and operates with a Nivatflex mainspring. Manufactured in Switzerland, this movement powers numerous respected timepieces, providing an economical alternative to other calibers.
