About the Mühle-Glashütte Teutonia Collection
Introduced in 2002, Teutonia is a timeless classic within the Mühle portfolio and the brand's most successful collection. Its inaugural model featured an elegant silver guilloché dial and a big date display, elements that remain characteristic of the collection. One of the first watches overseen by Thilo Mühle—the 5th generation of the founding family and the current managing director, the Teutonia was an instant success. Today, the Teutonia has evolved into a comprehensive watch collection with various iterations.
Features and Design
The Teutonia collection is characterised by sophisticated design elements, including fine guilloché dials that add a touch of intricate artistry. The dials often feature elegant signature applied indices, complemented by slim, stylish hands. The impeccably crafted cases, ranging from 34mm to 42mm, are made from high-quality stainless steel with a vertically-brished case band. The Teutonia watches are powered by precision automatic movements, often visible through a sapphire crystal caseback, showcasing the woodpecker neck fine regulation for which Mühle-Glashütte is renowned. These movements are rigorously tested and regulated to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Iterations
The current lineup of the Teutonia collection includes the Teutonia II, Teutonia IV, and Teutonia I Sport versions, each with distinct features that cater to various preferences and needs. The Teutonia II watches are versatile, featuring a date function, GMT, and chronograph. The Teutonia IV timepieces enhance the collection with additional complications, such as a moon phase, adding a romantic touch while maintaining the elegant design of the Teutonia line. Lastly, the Teutonia I Sport series introduces a more dynamic aspect to the collection. These are more sporty and robust timepieces with some unique elements like the Clous de Paris dial and knurled bezel.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
The Sellita calibre SW260-1 is a Swiss-made mechanical movement with a self-winding mechanism. It is a modification of the SW200 series and features a 31-jewel construction, a 38-hour power reserve, and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). The movement supports hour, minute, and central second hands, along with a date complication. Known for its robust performance and high accuracy, the SW260-1 is often used as a high-quality alternative to ETA movements in premium timepieces. Subsequently, luxury brands often customise the specifications, like power capacity and number of jewels, for efficiency.
