About the Longines Watchmaking Tradition Collection

Essence

The Longines Watchmaking Tradition Collection of watches, as its name suggests, exemplifies the masterful aesthetics, superior technology, and advanced crafting the brand is renowned. This collection pays a tribute to the success of Longies, which stems from its ongoing and commendable evolution of movements- from the self-winding calibre 22A in 1945, to the innovative column-wheel technique in 2009, and most recently, the Single Push-Piece Column-wheel in 2012. The sub-collections offered by the Watchmaking Tradition line are the Master, Evidenza, The Elegant, Heritage Classic, Record, and The Longines 1832.

The Master Collection

Longines launched its Master series in 2005 as a range under the Watchmaking Tradition collection. Since then the range has continued to launch timepieces, which have sparked interest among watch enthusiasts across the globe. Primarily, a set of simple timepieces, the Master collection also features various complications such as chronographs, moon phases, and calendars.

The Elegant Collection

To be noticed without striving is what elegance is all about. Launched as a sub-collection under the Watchmaking tradition collection, every Elegant timepiece is simple yet stunningly beautiful. Making use of materials like stainless steel and 18 K pink gold, the watches are put together using cutting-edge technology. The most consistent feature of this range is its simple case, protected by sapphire crystal. Some of the timepieces are set with diamonds, which add a touch of luxurious sophistication to the watches. Many of the timepieces feature a sleek small second sub-dial at the 6 o'clock marker and also a date window at the 3 o'clock marker.

The Evidenza

Longines launched the Evidenza Collection as a sub-collection under the Watchmaking Tradition. The intent of the collection was to pay tribute to the 1920s, a time of uninhibited freedom and progress in art, culture and of course, fashion. Inspired by the Art-Deco movement, the tonneau-shaped case presents itself with consistency throughout the collection. Apart from the shape of the case, the timepieces hold the 6 o'clock section for small seconds sub-dial or a date window. In some of the timepieces, one can also experience the elegantly set diamonds on the bezel.

The Heritage Classic

Drawing from the crypts of Longines, the Heritage Classic is a series of timepieces that offer an insight into the earliest days of the brand. Be it the sector dial from the 70s or the Classic Chronograph from the 60s, the timepieces are placed in a time capsule with a flavour of modernism in it. One can experience the play of heritage with hands fitted inside the timepieces, the hands range from the cathedral to dauphine or sometimes sword-shaped hands.

Record & 1832

For the “Record”, Longines offer a simple and elegant way of recording time. In a very rare case, Longines also fitted with this series of watches with a bi-compax chronograph. This timepiece is also fitted with a tachymeter on the outer flange of the dial offering an intimate take on the timekeeping duties. Marking the foundation year of the brand, the Longines 1832 celebrates the years of watchmaking and tradition with brilliant timepieces. Featuring moon phases and day/date windows, the timepieces are an elegant addition to the collection.
