About the Ikepod Horopod Collection
Originally founded in 1994 by Marc Newson and Oliver Ike, Ikepod carved a niche for themselves through experimental forms and minimalism. After returning from their hiatus in 2018, the brand returned with a renewed strategy and reinterpreted their iconic models for a new generation while retaining their signature visual codes. The Horopod collection marks a confident continuation of the brand’s design-first philosophy. The collection created designer Adrian Buchmann by reflects that mission with an everyday bracelet-style watch that honours the spirit of the earlier Horizon model, while modernising it for today’s urban wearers.
Design And Features
The Horopod’s defining feature is its unique case construction., reminiscent of a retro flying saucer, is executed in lightweight titanium, measuring 44mm. The lug-less design and integrated titanium bracelet further streamline the silhouette, enhancing its wearable aesthetic. The screw-down crown and 50-metre water resistance ensure the watch is suitable for daily wear, while the matching titanium bracelet, complete with a butterfly clasp, enhances its sculptural form. Each watch also comes with an interchangeable black rubber strap, adding versatility to the collection. Distinctive in its visual presentation, the Horopod dial departs from conventional design. It features a curved, dome-like surface with raised positive dot indices that offer depth and tactility. These elements are not only visually engaging but also align with the brand’s interest in architectural simplicity and spatial design. Rather than competing for attention, the dial invites a closer look, rewarding the viewer with its subtle topography.
Ikepod x Tom Christopher.
Expanding on its connection to the arts, the Horopod collection includes a limited-edition series created in collaboration with American expressionist artist Tom Christopher. Known for his vivid portrayals of city life, Christopher hand-painted twelve unique Horopod dials, each capturing elements of his urban landscapes. These one-of-a-kind pieces turn the timepiece into a wearable canvas, underlining Ikepod’s dedication to integrating contemporary art into their horological creations.
