About the Ikepod Duopod Collection
The Ikepod Duopod collection stands as a refined example of the brand's dedication to minimalism and modern design, all while preserving the essence of their earlier work. Launched in 2018, the Duopod embodies a sleek, pared-down aesthetic, drawing inspiration from Ikepod’s original Horizon collection. This new iteration reflects the brand's ethos of ‘less is more’, simplifying timekeeping to its most essential form. Powered by a reliable Miyota quartz movement, the Duopod is a practical and precise timepiece that honours Ikepod's tradition of merging design with function. It represents the brand’s return to form after their revival, following a period of dormancy from 2012 to 2018.
Design And Features
The Duopod features a two-hand mechanism that only displays the hours and minutes. Its absence of a seconds hand contributes to its clean and understated design, making it difficult to immediately determine whether the watch is quartz-powered or automatic. This subtle ambiguity is part of the collection’s appeal, offering a minimalist approach that invites closer inspection. The timepieces measure 42mm in diameter, but due to the absence of lugs, they wear closer to 39mm, ensuring a comfortable fit on the wrist. The round, lugless case design further enhances the sleek silhouette, making the watch feel less bulky than its size suggests.
Duopod offers a variety of finishes with its dial options, each one distinctive yet understated. These range from brushed metal to a semi-glossy white, and even feature dials with Ikepod’s signature ‘bubble’ motif. This careful attention to detail creates a collection that stands out through subtlety rather than flamboyance. The absence of a date complication allows the design to remain pure and uncluttered, staying true to the minimalist philosophy that defines Ikepod. The collection also includes a collaboration with American artist Tom Christopher, as part of Ikepod’s ongoing tradition of integrating art into their designs. The limited-edition Art Series Duopod watches feature hand-painted dials by Christopher, capturing his urban landscapes in wearable form. Limited to 111 pieces, these timepieces come with a signed certificate from the artist, making them an intriguing option for collectors who appreciate the fusion of art and horology.
