About the Ernest Borel Braque Collection
In 2017, Ernest Borel celebrated their 161st anniversary by embarking on an enchanting journey to the East with the Braque collection, reaching the culturally rich city of Chengdu, known as the “Land of Abundance.” This remarkable event featured the esteemed brand ambassadors, Kelly Chen, the "Romantic Screen Siren," and Raymond Lam, the "Prince Charming," who graced the occasion with their presence. The Braque collection by Ernest Borel is a celebration of artistic innovation and timeless elegance, offering a diverse range of timepieces that captivate the eye and honour the brand's romantic legacy.
Artistic Inspiration
The Braque Collection draws inspiration from the innovative spirit of Georges Braque, a pioneer of Cubism. His avant-garde paintings and sculptures, known for their intricate forms and diverse textures, sparked widespread discussion across Europe. This artistic influence is evident in the Braque collection, which embraces a variety of shapes, textures, and finishes. The distinctive woven patterns make this collection a unique icon in the world of watchmaking.
Features
The Braque collection is characterised by its elegant, rounded silhouette and refined dials adorned with guilloché patterns such as Côtes de Genève stripes or sunburst finishes. These intricate details add an element of sophistication to the timepieces. Notably, some iterations in the collection feature a day aperture at 12 o'clock and a date window at six, creating a balanced and functional design, while some are simple date watches with exquisite diamond markers. Additionally, the collection offers a chronograph version featuring a vertical tricompax configuration, further expanding its allure.
The use of mixed indexes or precious stones and Roman numerals for the hour markers enhances the watch's timeless appeal. Crafted primarily in steel with various PVD coatings, the collection introduces a palette of opulent hues. Staying true to Ernest Borel's romantic heritage, the Braque collection includes designs for both men and women, with slight variations in size and design.
