About the Edouard Koehn Tempus II Openheart Collection

Launched in 2022, the Tempus II Openheart collection is an evolution of the brand’s celebrated Tempus I automatic chronograph. This new series incorporates advanced technical features, most notably a mono-pusher chronograph movement with an inverted escapement. The "open heart" design reveals this escapement on the dial, offering a striking visual element while enhancing the precision and performance of the timepiece. By blending technical innovation with aesthetic appeal, the Tempus II stands as a testament to Edouard Koehn’s legacy of Swiss horological craftsmanship.

Design And Features

The Tempus II collection features a robust 43mm case, available in 316L stainless steel or black-PVD steel. Both versions are equipped with a black ceramic bezel with a brushed finish to minimise scratches and maintain the watch’s sleek appearance. The crown is mounted on joints, ensuring water resistance up to 100 metres, while the mono-pusher chronograph is seamlessly integrated into the case, enhancing its streamlined and sporty profile. The defining feature of the Tempus II is its partially open dial, protected by a double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystal. This design element reveals the inverted escapement at the 11 o’clock position, adding a unique visual appeal to the watch. The chronograph functions are neatly organised, with running seconds at nine o’clock and a 30-minute counter at three o’clock, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic balance. The Super-LumiNova-treated hour markers and skeleton hands offer excellent legibility.

Mechanism

Powering the Tempus II is the self-winding EK-CHRMP-MVT01 calibre. This intricate movement consists of 245 components and includes a ceramic ball-bearing oscillating weight, delivering reliable performance with a 48-hour power reserve. Available in four dial variations—gold, silver, gradient blue, and gradient green—each model is produced in a limited edition of just 30 pieces. These exclusive designs reflect Edouard Koehn’s commitment to both quality and craftsmanship, offering a refined and distinctive timepiece for discerning collectors.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT

Edouard Koehn power their Tempus II "Open Heart" watches with the calibre EK-CHRMP-MVT01, created exclusively for the brand by the La Chaux-de-Fonds-based manufacturer Concepto. It is a self-winding movement operating at the frequency of 4Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) to provide chronometer-standard accuracy and 48 hours of power reserve. It features 245 components, 29 jewels, and a ceramic ball-bearing oscillating weight. In addition to hours, minutes, and seconds, calibre EK-CHRMP-MVT01 also brings chronograph complication, featuring a bicompax configuration with a 30-minute counter at three and a running seconds counter at six.
