About the Eberhard & Co. Chrono 4 Collection
Following the quartz crisis, Eberhard & Co. remained steadfast in their dedication to traditional watchmaking, re-entering the market with a mechanical chronograph. The Chrono 4, introduced at Baselworld in 2001, marked the company's first model of the new millennium. It became the first and only chronograph in the history of watchmaking to feature four horizontally aligned counters, setting it apart from conventional designs that typically place counters at three, six, and nine o'clock. This patented design, reminiscent of racing car dashboards, has become an iconic signature of the Eberhard & Co. brand. Chrono 4 houses wristwatches that are exceptionally unique and become a conversation starter on any occasion.
Features
The Chrono 4 features 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph counters, as well as 24-hour and small seconds sub-dials, all arranged in a horizontal line. Since its release, the Chrono 4 has seen numerous iterations, available in case sizes of 40mm, 42mm, 43mm, and 46mm. These models come in stainless steel, 18k gold, and titanium, with various dial colour options, and feature tone-on-tone or contrasting counters and sub-dials. Additional design elements that remain constant in all Chrono 4 models include raised rims, luminescent hour-markers, dagger-shaped hands, and a choice of steel bracelet, leather or rubber strap.
Iterations
Eberhard have consistently produced a strong lineup of chronographs since their inception, and the Chrono 4 is a unique and distinguished addition to their celebrated roster. The 1980s and ‘90s witnessed the introduction of the Chrono Marine and the Chronomaster ‘Frecce Tricolori,' dedicated to the renowned Italian Air Force aerobatic display team. The Tazio Nuvolari chronograph, created in honour of the legendary racing driver who always carried an Eberhard pocket watch, is another notable mention in the Eberhard & Co. chronograph lineage. The latest additions to the Chrono 4 collection are the Chrono 4 ‘21-42' models, released to celebrate the collection's 20th anniversary, named after the year (2021) and the case size (42mm). The Chrono 4 lineup also includes the Grande Taille, Bellissimo, and Bellissimo Vitre series.
