About the Bell & Ross Instruments Collection

In 1992, Bruno Belamich and Carlos Rosillo established Bell & Ross as a university project with a shared vision. Their goal was to create timepieces inspired by the military, resulting in the formation of two iconic collections — Vintage and Instruments. The Vintage collection represents a blend of simplicity and practicality, while the Instruments honours the iconic 'circle-within-a-square' clock style commonly seen on military aircraft. Drawing inspiration from these instruments, Bell & Ross have successfully created a robust collection for the wrist that reflects their original vision.

Design

Central to the collection is the signature square case with a round dial, reminiscent of vintage aircraft gauges. This distinctive combination enhances legibility while reinforcing the collection’s robust, functional nature. As a house, Bell & Ross have established a minimalist approach, with clean dials, bold numerals, and strong hands, all designed to maximise readability—one of their core principles. The use of materials such as steel, ceramic, and titanium adds to the rugged, tool-watch appeal. Over time, the collection has evolved, incorporating advanced complications and modern finishes, yet always remaining faithful to the iconic square silhouette and aviation-inspired philosophy that define its unique aesthetic.

Iterations

The BR 03 Auto series represents the simplest form of Bell & Ross' Instruments collection, featuring a clean design with a small date window between the four and five o'clock markers, though some models omit this feature. Sharing the same layout, the BR 03 Diver is Bell & Ross' first square diving watch and is also available in a bronze case. For added functionality, the BR 03 GMT offers a second time zone, while the BR 03 Chrono includes a chronograph complication. Showcasing the house's expertise in Haute Horlogerie, the BR-X1 Chrono features a skeleton dial with a detailed chronograph. The BR S Quartz series, designed for those seeking a smaller, more refined option, combines toughness with sleek proportions, with the "S" standing for smaller, sleeker, and smarter.
