About the Baume & Mercier Clifton Collection
History
Taking its inspiration from the timepieces around the 1950s, the Baume & Mercier Clifton collection was launched in 2013 at SIHH. Post-2013, the Clifton collection received the first in-house movement created by the brand called the Baumatic.
Features
The Baume & Mercier Clifton collection sits at the forefront of the watchmaking prowess offered by the brand. Be it the opulent aesthetics or the robust mechanical capabilities, the Clifton collection offers a timeless experience in the horological world. The Clifton collection boasts a number of features inside its repertoire. Ranging from date windows to perpetual calendars, the collection does not fail to amaze even with its minimalistic persona. In most of the timepieces, the date window is placed at the 3 o'clock marker. Constructing on the complication spectrum, the Clifton is equipped with a day, date, and moon phase iteration. In this iteration, the date and the moon phase sub-dial are fixed at 6, whereas, the day sub-dial is at 12. There is also an iteration where the day sub-dial is absent but retains the moon phase and date indicator. For the intricate horologists, the Clifton collection offers a perpetual calendar complication. With day, date, month, and a moon phase, this Clifton also features a leap year inside the month sub-dial at the 12 o'clock marker.
Baumatic
Now, time for the golden question. What does the term ‘Baumatic' signify? Baumatic signifies the in-house movements developed by Baume & Mercier with its centuries-long watchmaking expertise. Be it the anti-magnetic properties or a power reserve of approximately 120 hours, the Baumatic is a symbol of the mechanical dexterity of the brand. Just like a Porsche 911 with its various iterations like Turbo, S or GT, Baumatic also holds various iterations such as the perpetual calendar or the moon phase. What is truly remarkable is that every Baumatic is COSC certified, guaranteeing accurate timekeeping. Another accomplishment achieved by the brand is that it became one of the few brands that equip its movements with a silicon escapement.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Belonging to the Baumatic calibre family tree, the BM14-1975AC1 is an automatic, in-house movement. Even though this calibre is not COSC-certified like the rest of the Baumatic movements, it reaches an impressive feat of facilitating a moon phase complication without compromising the phenomenal five-day power reserve. Along with the moon phase, it effortlessly fuels the three-hand display and a date complication. Moreover, the calibre features 21 jewels for smooth functioning and a perlage pattern for decoration.
