About the Arnold & Son Nebula Collection
A nebula is an enormous cloud of dust and gas found in interstellar space. Arnold & Son took inspiration from this celestial occurrence to create one of their most amazing timepieces, rightfully called Nebula. The maison have brilliantly captured this stellar explosion in the watch through the deliberate and meticulous arrangement of movement components, particularly the bridges, which seem to be expanding from the centre to the perimeter.
Part of the Chronometry family, the Nebula collection stands out with its unique movement architecture, characterised by a symmetrical yet intricate design. Carved entirely from the ground up, the movement features seven bridges assembled to look as if they are radiating from the centre of the dial. They are accompanied by two mainspring barrels fitted at ten and two o'clock. Their powerful combination provides the mechanism with constant torque that usually diminishes as the mainspring loses its energy whilst unwinding. To further elevate the aesthetics of the openwork movement, the brand have fitted the balance mechanism at four o'clock.
Arnold & Son weaponise one of their strongest suits of skeletonisation and synthesise it beautifully in the Nebula collection. As a result, each Nebula watch comes with a skeleton dial, allowing a captivating view of the distinctive movement within. The earlier iterations of Nebula featured the calibre 5101; however, all the timepieces in the current lineup are equipped with the advanced 5201. The collection exudes a cosmic allure, adding an otherworldly charm to its overall appeal.
Features
Within the Nebula collection, timepieces are available in a classic round case, in sizes 38mm and 41.5mm. They are crafted from opulent materials such as rose gold. These watches are available in options of fabric and leather straps or steel bracelets. The open-worked dial is complemented by refined finishing touches, such as chamfered edges and hand-polished surfaces.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Architecture is one of the strongest elements of the calibre A&S5201 that powers Arnold & Son Nebula watches. Its seven triangular bridges, with polished angles and satin-finished surfaces, are positioned interestingly on the dial side, creating the effect of an exploding star. These bridges meticulously hold the two barrels at the top while supporting the seconds' ring and the balance wheel at the bottom. As intended to be visible through both front and back, each component of the movement is finished to haute horlogerie standards. This hand-wound movement is as functionally brilliant as it is aesthetically charming. It furnishes a power reserve of 90 hours and is relatively thin at 4.04mm.
