The Ikepod Seapod collection marks the brand’s return to the world of dive watches, blending modern technology with iconic design elements. Launched in 2021, the Seapod is inspired by Ikepod’s first amphibious watch, the Seaslug, which was created during the brand’s early days under the design vision of Marc Newson. For the Seapod, Ikepod entrusted Fabrice Gonet, a renowned designer who has worked with prestigious brands such as Louis Moinet and HYT, to bring their dive watch into a new era. The Seapod is a perfect synthesis of the Hemipode and Seaslug, offering a modern interpretation of Ikepod’s unique design language with a focus on functionality and style.
Design And Features
The Seapod’s design captures the brand's distinctive aesthetic with its signature pebble-shaped case and sleek, rounded edges. Gonet aimed to refine the original Seaslug while maintaining the minimalist approach that Ikepod is known for. Notably, the watch features a fully integrated rotating bezel, seamlessly blending into the case rather than protruding like traditional dive watches. This gives the Seapod a streamlined look, enhancing its overall symmetry, particularly as it omits a date window to maintain a clean and balanced dial. The futuristic dial design, reminiscent of “A Clockwork Orange,” adds a bold touch, ensuring the Seapod stands out as a modern dive watch with a retro influence.
Seapod is a capable dive watch with water resistance up to 200 metres. The watch is equipped with a screw-down crown and luminescent markers on the hours, minutes, indices, and 12-hour markers on the bezel, ensuring visibility in low-light conditions. The watch’s smooth, ergonomic design makes it comfortable for both everyday wear and underwater use. Powered by the reliable Miyota 9039 automatic movement, the Seapod offers precision and durability. The movement features a power reserve of approximately 42 hours and operates at a frequency of 4 Hz, ensuring accurate timekeeping. Additionally, the watch includes an exhibition caseback, allowing a glimpse into the inner workings of the movement—a feature that connects it to its predecessor, the Seaslug.
