Essence
The Class 1 collection by the Swiss watchmaker Edox (est. 1884) is inspired by pure racing spirit. The name of the collection is derived from the Class 1 Powerboat World Championships, also touted as the Formula 1 of the seas. The timekeeper is fully equipped to deliver unparalleled millisecond precision and has been specifically designed for these races.
Features
The Edox Class 1 collection includes various sub collections like the Chronoffshore Automatic edition, GMT World Timer edition, Day Date Automatic, Chronolady, Wave Rider Regulator and more. Being a collection designed for ocean racing, they are water-resistant up to 900 metres to 3000 metres deep, extremely durable owing to their ceramic bezel and also contain a helium valve- essential for professional divers to release excess pressure. The cases of different editions of this collection are made of materials like stainless steel, PVD and ceramic. Some editions include subdials for chronograph functions and date/date-day indicators. The hour markers are denoted by small batons, but 1 or 12 is written in the Arabic numerals in some editions. The movement of the watch is either Quartz or Automatic.
Associations
The Edox Class 1 has always been really close to aquatic sporting events and is the official timekeeper of the UIM Class 1 Powerboat Championships. As a commemorative gesture, each Class 1 model features an engraving of the propeller of the Class-1 Powerboat.
