Corum Watches - The Key to Perfect Time

Corum watches was founded in 1955 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland by Gaston Ries and his nephew, Renee Bannwart. Right from its inception, Corum stood out for its innovative designs and original mechanisms. Though most of their designs were fairly unconventional, models such as Chinese Hat, the Coin, and Romulus created a storm and were well-received among most watch lovers almost instantly. This prompted them to always come back with something new and unique.

In 1956 the first Corum watches appeared on the market and the brand launched a veritable cascade of new ideas with great success. Even their competitors considered Corum to be one of the most creative watchmakers in the industry. For instance, in 1957—Corum created the Golden Tube model, a timepiece where the whole movement was fitted inside a tube. Post the Golden Tube fame, Corum came forward with another classic, christened the Double Eagle Coin. This particular classic was worn by 5 US presidents—George Bush Sr., Ronald Reagan, Lyndon B. Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon, and Bill Clinton.

The futuristic personality of the brand was complemented by Rolls Royce in 1976 by officiating a unique partnership with Corum. This partnership churned out the timepiece called Diamond Weiss Gold. A rare timepiece, the Diamond Weiss featured Rolls Royce’s famed front grill. The collections under the Corum hangar are Golden Bridge, Admiral, Lab, Heritage, and Bubble.

The Golden Bridge

Surpassing the creative benchmarks since its inception, Corum has created some beautiful timepieces. One of these collections is the Golden Bridge. Born in the 1980s, this collection dons the baguette movement in a transparent sapphire crystal case. Serenading the wearer by a skeleton case, this timepiece is the forebearer of Corum’s philosophy.

The Admiral

Another collection in the anchorage is the Admiral. A timepiece featured with nautical pennants on the dial and a 12-sided case. A tribute to the Admiral’s Cup, an international yachting regatta, also unofficially known as the world championship of offshore racing.

Efficiently covering the avant-garde tracks of Corum are the Lab, Bubble, and Heritage collection.

The Lab

The Lab collection, for instance, is a beautifully unique take on their unorthodox journey. Known for its barrel-shaped case, this collection is also renowned for its technical acuity. Accoutred with a shaped movement called the CO 410 calibre, Corum’s Lab collection is unorthodox yet visually appealing.

The Bubble

Another collection hovering over Corum’s innovative personality is the Bubble collection. What makes it unique is the 8mm thick sapphire crystal glass covering the dial. This makes the dial give out a distorted yet distinct look.

The Heritage collection is somewhat different in its very own language. Presented with a toned-down aesthetic, this collection is about celebrating the rich history of the brand. For instance, the Heritage Coin is reminiscent of the 60s Coin watch worn by US presidents.

A truly unique brand, Corum is a brand with a progressive mindset and a much more progressive approach towards its creations.
