Rolex Datejust Special Edition Watch Review6:24 pm
Rolex Datejust has been undoubtedly one of the most emblematic collections by Rolex. It is a great piece of art that has a legacy of perfection behind it. Launched back in 1945, this collection repressed the modern era of technology as it featured a quick date function that was a milestone during that era. The earlier concept of watches included only three hands (the hour, minutes and seconds) and nothing more. But in 1945, Rolex presented the first wristwatch with a date display and a quick date mechanisms that made a change in the complete ideology of timekeeping.

The history behind the world’s most famous watch brand is quite an intriguing one. Before we go into the roots of the most preferred watch of the world we need to understand the creation of this most preffered brand of the world. It was conceptualised and brought to life by Wilsdorf and Davis- Davis was responsible of the manufacturing, while Wilsdorf purchased the movements. In 1908, the brand became quite famous amongst the local watch appreciators. Looking at this Wilsdorf thought of naming the brand something unique and catchy that will register in minds easily. The legend is that Wilsdorf came up with the name Rolex just like that with no confirmed theory behind it. The company was first located in the UK but then it moved to Switzerland because of the war and since then has been functioning from there. From there they crafted brilliant instruments of precision.
The Rolex Datejust for ladies is a piece of horological marvel. It has got all the elements that combine to form the natures best. Mother-of-pearl used on the dial is a beauty that is hidden inside the coarse and rugged oyster shell. This gift of nature lends the Rolex dials with an iridescent reflection and a subtle hue of colour. The fine mother of parl layer is a mere 0.4 mm thick and almost translucent, vary in intensity and structure as nature intended. This Special Edition watch also features a date display at 3 o’clock with a Cyclops lens protection that improves readability. The wide bezel lends an aura of modernity to the watch. It is studded with finely cut diamonds that grace the dial with a pristine glow.
“Exclusive to this model, the Goldust Dream dials are created by a Rolex-patented process that combines mother-of-pearl and gold dust to produce enchanting motifs, making each reading of the time a pure delight.”
The date display mechanism used earlier would start changing hours before the midnight. The latest technology used in this watch allows the date to be changed instantaneously. The beauty of this watch is unparalleled and with the use of a unique 18k pink gold alloy cast in Rolex’s own foundry called the Everose gold.
Another highlight of this exquisite watch is its everose bracelet with rounded five-piece links was created in 1992 for the launch of the Lady-Datejust Pearlmaster model. The bracelet is fitted with a concealed crownclasp.
The watch is powered with a Calibre 2235 self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. The movement is a certified Swiss chronometer, a designation reserved for high-precision watches that have successfully passed the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) tests.
A deep and undying passion for nature is visible beautifully through this model of perfection. Rolex Datejust special edition surpasses all expectations and is a grand example of the brands success story.
