May We Recommend

Carl F. Bucherer likes to do things their own way, and this free spirit begins with them being a 100 per cent independent brand, and in fact, one of the biggest independent watchmakers in the world. But what people don’t know about Bucherer is that they’ve been masters of women’s watches ever since their inception. They’ve mastered the art of crafting exceptional watches for women from as early as 1919.

The Carl F. Bucherer Pathos collection is a tribute to all women, as it suits ladies of all ages

Almost a century later, their legacy of crafting fine jewellery timepieces continues in the exquisitely radiant Pathos collection. The Pathos was made by Bucherer as a tribute to the lady of today, featuring a round watch that appears to be conventional but has profound luxurious touches and exceptional craftsmanship. Highly anticipated at the time of its launch, the Pathos comes in a selection of almost 18 different variations. From stainless steel and gold to gem-setting and filigree work, Bucherer ensured there’s one for everyone.

Patterns On The Pathos Case: Filigree And Wave

One of the major talking points of the Pathos watches is the characteristic aureole, seen here in the exquisite texture of the sides of the case. This intricate detail of the Pathos watches radiates effortless glamour with a warm glow. Light is reflected with a myriad of radiating facets creating a visually astounding effect. The seamless integration of the aureole is a testament of the brand’s dedication to creating perfect timepieces and their expertise in crafting jewellery watches. You can’t help but fall irrevocably in love with the beautiful Pathos timepieces.

The intricately-woven characteristic aureole of the Pathos collection seen here features the filigree pattern

The filigree version of the aureole is an intricate mesh of sculpted metal that surrounds some versions of the Pathos. And on the other hand, there’s the wave. Like the filigree, the wave design has been intricately incorporated into the stainless steel, and two-tone – steel and rose gold – cases. Adding more character, the wave-like aureole around the case reflects the light in atmospheric glints and gleams. It perfectly complements the balanced design of the Pathos timepieces it is featured in, making them vibrant companions by day or night. All versions within the Pathos collection come with a domed sapphire crystal glass, with an antireflective coating on one side.

Details On The Pathos Dial: Textures And Sculpted Indexes

Clean, clear and utterly grand, the dial of the Pathos houses uniquely designed 18-carat rose gold or stainless steel applied hour indexes. If you look closely, the ‘wave’ variations incorporate sculpted, three-dimensional applied indexes, while the ‘filigree’ versions feature uniquely curved applied markers with Roman numerals at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock. The reason behind the difference lies in the detail of the dial.

The beauty of the Carl F. Bucherer Pathos lies in the minute details of the dial. Shown above is the difference in the dials featuring the wave (left) and filigree (right) versions of the Pathos Diva.

The dial housing the simple hour markers has an elegant design woven into it. To ensure the focus remains on this aspect, the hour markers have been kept simple. However, the dial that does not feature this design, indulges instead in the immaculately designed, three-dimensional applied indexes. The beauty of the Pathos Diva obviously lies in the minute details. The sword-shaped hands add to the timeless element of the watch.

Movement In The Pathos Watch: A Mechanical, Self-Winding Mechanism

The Pathos watches from Carl F. Bucherer are powered by mechanisms that are as impressive as their beautifully crafted exteriors of the timepieces

Meant for the modern woman, the Pathos is not just your average beautiful ladies’ watch. While it does have an incredible aesthetic appeal, it is also technically astounding – a quality that is not a priority in most ladies’ timepieces. Of the 18 variations, 16 are powered by the automatic CFB calibre movements, which offer a power reserve of 38 hours, and can be seen through the beautiful sapphire crystal caseback.

Pathos On The Wrist: Three Sizes To Choose From

post-1
From the office to a casual dinner, the Pathos timepieces fit perfectly into the wardrobe of a lady. Seen here is Carl F. Bucherer brand ambassador Lisa Haydon.

The Carl F. Bucherer Pathos watches are available in three sizes – 34, 26.5, and 25mm – allowing adequate options for comfort on any lady’s wrist. The sizes are in fact the essential factors that distinguish the collection’s three pillars from each other. These pillars are the Diva, the Queen, and the Princess.

Available in three sizes, and variations in steel and steel with rose gold, with or without diamonds, the range of Pathos watches will definitely have something that’ll suit you well.

The Pathos Diva

At 34mm, the Diva is a statement piece that sits a little heavier on the wrist. While elegant and refined, the Diva is one watch that will surely attract attention. It is available with filigree and wave patterns on the aureole. The Pathos Diva starts at ₹265,000 and is available in four variations – in steel, or steel and 18-carat rose gold, with or without diamonds.

The Pathos Queen

The Queen, is sized at 26.5mm, is perfect for a slender wrist. It appears more delicate, becoming a perfect day-to-evening companion. Pathos Queen starts at ₹235,000, and like the Diva is also available in steel and two-tone options, with or without diamonds. You can opt for the filigree or wave pattern in the Queen as well.

The Pathos Princess

The smallest of the Pathos watches, at 25mm, the Princess features Arabic numerals, and is available in steel or steel and rose gold, with diamonds, and adorned with the filigree pattern

The most petite of them all, the Princess comes in a 25mm case, in either steel, or steel and rose gold. The Princess features only the filigree aureole in both metal options. Unlike the Diva and Queen, the Princess houses a quartz movement. The dial is textured, and features Arabic numerals, including three o’clock, instead of the Roman numbers and the date display seen on the Diva and the Queen. The Pathos Princess starts at ₹167,000.

About the Brand

The history and development of the Lucerne-based watch brand is closely linked to the person of Carl Friedrich Bucherer. A visionary who created timepieces that moved with the times, in the truest sense, always combining extravagance and aesthetic appeal in extraordinary ways.

In 1888, Carl Friedrich Bucherer opened a jewellery and watch shop in Lucerne, and his name rapidly became a synonym for quality and originality. His two sons were destined from the cradle to follow him into the profession: one learned to become a watchmaker while the other trained as a goldsmith. Today, the combination of these two artistic skills is still reflected in the perfect form of watches, which are truly pieces of jewellery.
