Pierre Jaquet Droz created his first watch manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, in 1738, the second in London in 1774, followed by third in Geneva in 1784, the first watch manufacture ever set up in this town.

Their powerful symbolism is based on the numerology of the number eight, which signifies fulfillment and infinity. Two-thirds of the watches feature the figure eight on the dial, the number of diamonds circling the dial is always in multiples of eight, and the company only produces limited editions in sets of eight or 88.
