Corum was founded in 1955 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Gaston Ries and his nephew René Bannwart. The founders brought together their respective strengths as watchmaker and creative designer. They transformed their small private label watch factory into a watchmaking manufacture of its own brand.

Did you know?
Corum has created the famous $20 Coin Watch, designed with a vintage authentic $20 American gold coin sliced in two: one side serving as a case-back and the other as the dial. The model was created and registered in 1964. The first 12 pieces sold immediately even before they could be shown at the 1965 Basel Fair. The coin is called the "Double Eagle".
