Tag Heuer’s Link series made its first appearance in 1987 as S/el. The collection was renamed as ‘Link’ in 1999 in recognition of the most unique and distinctive part of the watch, its bracelet. This series is quite possibly the most recognized from TAG Heuer’s various ranges.
The characteristic feature of the TAG Heuer Link Calibre 5 Day-Date is the bracelet. The bracelet is made using brushed metal like many other watches by TAG Heuer, but it’s the shape of the links that make it unique. Instead of using ‘brick’ shaped links like most other metal bracelets, it uses two ‘S’ shaped links. This gives the TAG Heuer Link Calibre 5 a more comfortable fit as compared to other watches with metallic bracelets. Aside from this, the watch also features a black dial with a thin vertical striper for a professional look. The hands of the watch are faceted and plated with polished Rhodium. Like the bracelet, the case of the watch is also made from brushed and polished steel and the case window of the watch has gone through double anti-reflective treatment for better readability.
The TAG Heuer WAT2010.BA0951 Link Calibre 5 features a day and date window at the 6 o’clock position and features a Calibre 5 movement. This watch has a power reserve of about 38 hours. The folding clasp system used for its famous bracelet has a special safety system that prevents accidental unfastening. This watch is also water resistant to a depth of 100 metres. Thus it can be worn while swimming or while indulging in your favourite water sports.
One of their most iconic watch collections, the TAG Heuer’s Link was revamped in 2011. It was originally introduced in the 1980s and has been a big part of the brand’s ethos since then. The core of the Link collection is connected to its bracelet that offers a unique feel and look.
The bracelet tends to be the standout factor for this collection with Tag Heuer having restructured the aesthetic substantially. The links in the bracelet tend to be flatter and angular with the space between the parts reduced compared to the older models. The bracelet was designed to have no exposed pins on either side illustrating some very ingenious engineering. The bezels stand out being polished, containing Roman or Arabic numerals. Instead of being round, the bezel ring tilts down giving it an interesting cushion shape.
The standard quartz watch is 40mm wide with a three-hand movement and is known as the Link Watch with Quartz Movement. The Calibre 6 model is 40 mm wide and also showcases a subsidiary seconds hand. The 42 mm wide Calibre 5 automatic features day-date functions.
