About the Seiko Prospex Collection

History

Short for Professional Specifications, the Seiko Prospex collection has a rich and enticing backdrop to it. The world’s first Japanese diver’s watch was launched in 1965 called the Seiko 150M Diver’s watch. It was in this era that Seiko decided to move forward in the arena of the diving world. Since the launch of the first diver’s watch, the Seiko Prospex collection has prospered in the diving segment with finesse.

Features

While starting its career as a diver’s watch, the Seiko Prospex has a versatile nature when it comes to robust timekeeping. Starting from the LX Line, the timepieces inside this series are directly inspired by the very first diver’s watch from Seiko. The crown inside the LX Line features a crown at the 4 o’clock marker and a power reserve indicator between 7 and 9 o’clock. Some of the timepieces are also GMTs. Another piece of diving equipment, the Sea Series inside the Prospex collection holds the true essence of diving equipment. With chronographs, deep-sea diving timepieces, and GMTs, the multi-faceted Sea series can be a companion for any occasion. Swaying away from the oceans, the Prospex Land series features simple, elegant dials with polished surfaces. Inspired by the robust chronograph from 1969, the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer is a true embodiment of sports timers with tachymeters and classic chronographs. Another inspiration for timepieces inside the collection is the 1975 Seiko Divers in the name of the Seiko Prospex Street series.

Limited Editions

With various limited editions inside the Prospex collection, the timepieces take a hint at diversity with finesse and elegance. A few of the limited edition timepieces are the 1968 Diver’s Moden Re-interpretation Save the Ocean Limited Editon, and the 1986 Quartz Diver’s 35th Anniversary Limited Edition which offers a water-resistance capacity of up to 1000ft.

This is my third Seiko from ethoswatches.com. Excellent service once again nd great pricing. I always wanted to buy this watch since it was launched in beselworld 2014. Its a great diving watch with best in class lume. When I received it the battery charge was showing a days life so I wore it while I went for a run(7 km) and the kinetic battery charge went upto more than a month's reserve. Likewise it can have a battery back up of 6 months. Its built very tough and stand high on wrist. It is a lifetime keeper. Love it

The Prospex like the Monsters Series have distinct character, one that is matchless and beyond compare. Words cannot describe the feel of this one, it puts many Swiss diver classics to shame by its sheer presence and masculinity. Yet it is unbelievable how pretty and comfy it sits my wrist. For those who are new to the World of Seikos and Swiss sports timepieces, I urge you to get a feel of this. It’s no wonder - the World's Current tennis best - Novak Djokovic states this one to be his favourite amongst all of Seiko watches . I have the privilege of a few Monsters in my kit, as I am a luminous dial addict, so to say. Seiko has outdone the bright light hold yet again, it’s amazing how they get better at this. It makes all others look so lame when it comes to the hold of the light!! And then it’s a kinetic so the Automatic – Watch Winders in Out – Care etc is taken care of .

Bottom line - it’s a Watch you can wear to a Tux night out with the your fine lady, one you for could leave on if you are scuba diving after party and have it on for the lazy breakfast /brunch the following day. I won’t bother talking you through with the specs of it - just Surf!! On the net or at the Beach. Notice you will!!
