About the Seiko Astron Collection
History
Seiko has been in the business of innovative watchmaking since 1881. With years of experience under its belt, Seiko has managed to build watches that are both futuristic and retain the traditionality of watchmaking. It was on Christmas Eve of 1969 that Seiko decided to reshape the watchmaking world by releasing the world’s first quartz watch, the Seiko Quartz Astron. Since the launch of the first quartz watch, the Seiko Astron collection has developed itself into a much more robust and innovative collection.
Features
Timekeeping is an art that is best tasted when accurate. This goes well with the Seiko Astron, a timepiece that is fitted with a GPS module. The GPS module inside these watches provides the timepieces under the collection with accurate time and can adjust itself according to the location of the wearer with just a push of a button. Apart from the GPS module, the timepieces are powered by solar power. Also dubbed as the world’s first GPS Solar watch, the Seiko Astron is a very different approach towards being a world timer. The Astron is also fitted with three sub-dials featuring either chronographs or various functions such as day/date, power reserve, and second-time zone.
Limited Editions
In the world of unique timepieces, Seiko is in a habit of launching limited edition timepieces. Inside the Astron collection, there are timepieces that celebrate the legacy of both the brand and the watch. Such as the Seiko Astron Kintaro Hattori 160th Limited Edition watch is a brilliant tribute to the founder of the company. Another timepiece celebrating the launch of the first Astron is the Seiko Quartz Astron 50th Limited Edition.

Seiko Astron is the most developed watch I have ever seen in my life, particularly in recent years. The watch is equipped with a technology that enables it to receive GPS signals from any place in the world and update its time accordingly. While most watches are made to adjust to 37 time zones, the Seiko Astron is made to adjust to 39 time zones, which gives it an additional edge over other watches. It is solar powered which means it requires solar energy to keeping it in running condition. It has the quartz movement that is present in most Seiko watches. Chromatic markers are present to denote the hour markers that also help to know the time in places which are quite dark. In between the 9 and 10 o'clock are two letters 'E' and 'F' which denote the status of the watch whether it is completely charged or not. The other symbol exactly along the same arc denoted by'1' to '+4' which indicate the number of signals that the watch requires to function correctly. The date function is located at the 3 o'clock position. Overall this is the most developed watch in its category. With a chronograph function present in the watch it is one of the most immaculate timepieces I have ever seen.

This watch is designed so that you can see the dial clearly because it is very big and you can carry easily because it is very light. At the same time it is very good to have when you are traveling because you do not need to think about the time difference.

Great watch to look and superb to wear it. Every detail is so neat and magnificent it takes your breath away the minute you see it. I picked it up expecting it to be little heavy and pleasantly surprised that it is light and snugs my wrist so well. Operating the watch needed little understanding the functions, but after that it is pure magic. The dial combination with hands is a pure swan song. Proud to wear and fully fully value for money. Great watch and would recommend it to everyone.
